Bread of Heaven/Word of Life/ Jesus is the word of God Esther 8:1: That same day King Xerxes gave Queen ### the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And ### came into the presence of the king, for ### had told how he was related to her. Esther 8:1-10:3 demonstrates God's providence in reversing a death decree, the importance of courageous faith and advocacy for justice, and the moral complexities of wielding power, as even righteous individuals like ### and ### adopt methods echoing their oppressors to achieve their goals. The passage culminates in the establishment of Purim, a feast celebrating the Jews' triumph over their enemies and commemorating God's protective hand, while also highlighting how evil is ultimately rooted out and the righteous are vindicated. Key Biblical Implications: God's Providential Hand: God is not limited to saving people when all is wrong; His sovereign power can turn desperate situations around for good. Even though Haman's deadly decree remains on the books, ### and ### are given authority by the king to issue a new decree allowing the Jews to defend themselves. Faith and Courage in Action: ### bravely confronts King Xerxes, weeping and pleading for the lives of her people, a powerful demonstration of faith in action. Her willingness to use her influence and take a risk, despite the potential danger to herself, serves as a model for confronting injustice. Justice and Retribution: The Jews are given the right to defend themselves and take vengeance on their enemies, which is seen as a righteous reversal of Haman's initial plot. Many people in the land become Jews out of fear, and the events lead to the establishment of the annual Feast of Purim. The Nature of Power and Moral Ambiguity: The chapter reveals the moral complexities of wielding power. ### and ###, while acting for justice, adopt Persian customs and exert their authority in a way that mirrors the oppressive behaviors of the rulers they oppose. The Vindication of the Righteous: ###, who was previously in sackcloth and was hidden, is now seen in royal robes, a symbol of his elevated status and the public triumph of the Jewish people. The city rejoices, and the Jews experience light, gladness, joy, and honor. The Purim Feast: The events lead to the permanent establishment of the Feast of Purim, which remains a yearly reminder of God's deliverance and protection of the Jewish people. The festival is a commemoration of the day the Jews had light, gladness, joy, and honor, rather than mourning and death. Prayer for Esther 10:3: “### the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.” Praying through Esther 10:3: Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing book of Esther and the wonderful way we see Your plans and purposes being quietly carried out in everyday circumstances, to forward Your sovereign will for the redemption of the world and the return of Christ to set up His eternal kingdom on earth. Thank You that there is nothing that can prevent Your eternal purposes from being fulfilled. We pray that we would die to our own desires and live for Your greater glory and that by Your grace, You would use us in the place in which we have been planted. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

We are deeply encouraged by the truths you’ve shared from the book of Esther, a powerful testament to God’s providence, justice, and the triumph of His people even in the face of overwhelming evil. The story of Esther and Mordecai reminds us that God is always at work, even when His name is not explicitly mentioned in the text, turning what the enemy means for harm into good for those who trust in Him. The reversal of Haman’s decree, the establishment of Purim, and the elevation of Mordecai all point to the sovereignty of God over the affairs of men. It is a profound example of how faith, courage, and obedience to God’s calling can lead to deliverance—not just for one person, but for an entire people.

Yet, as we reflect on this passage, we must also acknowledge the moral complexities it presents. While God uses imperfect people to accomplish His purposes, we see that even the righteous can find themselves adopting the methods of the world to achieve justice. This should challenge us to seek God’s wisdom in how we wield influence, ensuring that our actions align with His righteousness rather than merely mirroring the tactics of those who oppose Him. Our fight is not with flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil, and our weapons must be spiritual—prayer, truth, righteousness, and the Word of God.

We are also struck by the fact that this prayer you’ve shared does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father and by whom all things were created and are sustained. It is only in the name of Jesus that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, and it is through His finished work on the cross that we are saved and made righteous. The book of Esther, while a beautiful story of deliverance, ultimately points forward to the greater Deliverer, Jesus Christ, who has defeated sin and death once for all. Without Him, there is no true or lasting victory.

Let us pray together, lifting up these truths and seeking God’s will in our lives, that we too may be used for His glory in the places He has planted us.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the way You move in the lives of Your people, turning despair into hope and defeat into victory. Lord, just as You used Esther and Mordecai to save the Jews from destruction, we ask that You would raise up men and women of courage in our day—those who will stand for righteousness, speak for the voiceless, and trust in Your providence even when the odds seem insurmountable. Father, forgive us for the times we rely on our own strength or adopt the ways of the world to accomplish what we believe is Your will. Teach us to walk in Your wisdom, to fight Your battles Your way, and to trust that You will vindicate the righteous in Your perfect timing.

We thank You, Lord, for the ultimate deliverance found in Your Son, Jesus Christ. It is through His name alone that we have access to You, and it is by His blood that we are saved. Father, we pray that every prayer lifted up would be done in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. May we never forget that our hope is not in earthly kings or human strategies, but in the King of Kings, who has already won the final victory.

Lord, we ask that You would use each of us, just as You used Esther and Mordecai, for such a time as this. Give us the courage to speak up for what is right, the wisdom to navigate the complexities of this world, and the faith to trust that You are working all things together for Your glory. May we, like Mordecai, be known for seeking the good of Your people and speaking up for the welfare of those around us. And may our lives point others to the greater Deliverer, Jesus Christ, in whom all the promises of God find their yes and amen.

We pray all these things in the precious and mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

We're right there with you, dear friend. It's amazing how God works, isn't it? Even when life feels stranded or defeated, like Esther, we serve a God who specializes in turning situations around for our good. We're reminded of His sovereignty, His providence, and His unfailing love for us.

Just like Esther, we too can find courage in our faith. We can trust that God is working behind the scenes, even when His name isn't explicitly mentioned. He's there, orchestrating events, turning what the enemy means for harm into a blessing for those who love Him.

And like Mordecai, we're called to seek the good of those around us. To stand up for what's right, even when it's difficult or dangerous. We're reminded that our fight isn't against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. And our weapons? They're spiritual - prayer, truth, righteousness, and the Word of God.

So, let's keep praying, dear friend. Let's pray for courage, for wisdom, for faith. Let's pray that we'd be used by God, just like Esther and Mordecai were. Let's pray that we'd trust in His providence, even when the odds seem insurmountable.

And remember, our hope isn't in earthly kings or human strategies. Our hope is in the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. He's already won the final victory, and through Him, we have access to the Father. So, let's keep lifting up our prayers in His name.

We're in this together, dear friend. Let's keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking God's will in our lives. Because, like Esther, we serve a God who specializes in turning things around for our good.

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
