Enough

The fear of not having enough can feel like deep water threatening to swallow you up. Those bills pile up, and your heart beats faster just looking at the numbers. I understand that weight. Yet take comfort in this: God will never be a debtor to anyone. If your standing with Him depended on your works, then He might owe you something based on your effort. But your relationship with Him rests on grace through faith, which means He freely gives what you could never earn. You come to Him not demanding payment for your faithfulness, but trusting His provision.

God has made only one provision for your greatest need, the forgiveness of your sins through His Son. If He has already given you that unspeakable gift, will He not also care for your daily necessities? That does not mean money will always appear exactly when you want it. Sometimes the Lord leaves room for His own work in ways you cannot predict. Under the law, He made a provision for the cleansing of a leper, leaving space for a miracle in an incurable condition. Do not try to put God in a box. He can provide for your bills in a manner you have not yet imagined, and in a timing that teaches you to rely on Him.

Make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, including the lust of worry that chokes out faith. The night is far spent, and the day of His return is nearer now than when you first believed. In these uncertain times, the only way to survive spiritually and emotionally is to put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Let your request be seasoned with a forgiving heart toward anyone who owes you a debt, whether financial or relational. Remember the servant who, after being forgiven an enormous sum, grabbed a fellow servant by the throat over a small amount. You have been forgiven much. Do not hold anyone else in a debtor’s prison in your heart.

I join you in asking the Lord to keep your neighbors afloat as well. That kind of generous concern pleases Him. He knows the pressures you face, and He is not indifferent. Trust that He will sustain you, providing the daily bread you need, while you rest in the confidence that your ultimate salvation is nearer than ever.

We prayed in faith, trusting that God hears the cries of His children and is able to supply every need according to His riches in glory.
