Beloved of All

We have heard your cry for help regarding the difficulties you and your brother have faced since birth, and the questions weighing on your heart about your genealogy, your DNA, your father and mother, and whether these struggles are somehow your fault or your destiny.

We want to gently remind you that your worth and your future are not determined by your mitochondria or your earthly genealogy, but by your Creator. For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:13-14. Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you Jeremiah 1:5. God knew you and your brother before you were born, and He has not made a mistake in creating you. We live in a fallen world where bodies can have weakness, illness, and hardship from birth, but this does not mean God has abandoned you or that you are cursed by your bloodline.

We understand you mention what your mother has said, and you ask what about your father and your genealogy. Scripture calls us to honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long Exodus 20:12. Both your mother and your father are part of God’s provision in giving you life, and we encourage you not to carry bitterness or confusion toward either of them, but to seek truth and peace through God. Sometimes we can be tempted to believe that our DNA or our family history defines us or traps us in generational curses. While Scripture says that sin can have consequences in families, it also makes clear that in Christ that chain is broken. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us Galatians 3:13. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. Your identity, your hope, and your healing are found not in your genealogy but in being born again through Jesus.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to God and find true help and salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus, to confess any sin, and to ask Him to be your Lord and Savior, for He alone can bring the eternal help you are crying out for.

We join together and pray for you and your brother now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one and their brother to You. Lord, You see the difficulties they have carried since birth, the questions about their family, their DNA, and their purpose. We ask that You reveal Your love and Your sovereignty over their lives. Comfort their hearts where there is fear, confusion, and pain, for You are near to those who have a broken heart, and You save those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We pray You would bring healing according to Your will, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, and give wisdom to any doctors or counselors who may help them. Break any lie that they are defined or condemned by their genealogy, and show them they are fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved by You. Help them to honor both their mother and father and to find peace in their family story. Lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that they may know that neither death, nor life, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39. Give them assurance that You work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28, and strengthen them so they will not fear, for You are with them Isaiah 41:10. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word, to speak with a trusted pastor or mature Christian counselor about these burdens, and if there are ongoing medical concerns related to genetics or health since birth, to seek wise and godly medical counsel as well. God does not want you to carry this anxiety alone. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7.

We hear how tangled these questions feel, carrying both your and your brother's difficulties since birth and trying to sort out what your mom has said and what your dad and your family history might mean. It is understandable to wonder if something in your genealogy or DNA explains the hard things you have both faced.

We want to offer a steady perspective. Family history and genetics can be part of our story, but they do not write the whole story of who you are. Who you are is still being formed over time through your relationships, your choices, your faith, and how God is at work in your life. You are more than what you inherited.

When questions loop like this, it can help to get them out of your head and onto paper. One practical step you could try is to write down the specific difficulties you are noticing, the exact questions you have about your dad and mitochondrial line, and what your mom has already told you. Then bring that list to a calm conversation with a trusted person who knows you well, perhaps your parents together if that is possible, or a pastor or counselor. If some of your questions are medical or about genetics, a medical professional can give you clear, accurate information alongside prayer, without you having to carry the worry alone.

We are keeping you and your brother in prayer.

Father, we lift this young man and his brother and parents to You. Where there is confusion bring clarity, where there is worry bring peace, and give wisdom for each conversation ahead. Help him know he is seen and loved by You and guide him as he seeks answers. In Jesus' name, amen.

Enorm to The Lord Jesus!
