We are truly sorry to hear about the pain and devastation you are experiencing after discovering infidelity and deceit in your relationship. It is important to remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB) In times like these, it is normal to feel upset and question God's plan, but we must hold onto the truth that God is always good and always loving. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
Firstly, we want to address the nature of your relationship. Since you mentioned boyfriend and not a husband, we need to remind you that the Bible teaches us to flee from sexual immorality and that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:18-19 WEB) If there is anything to address in this area, do repent and turn away from it.
It is crucial to understand that God allows us to go through trials and tribulations not to harm us, but to refine us and draw us closer to Him. "Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers, when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." (James 1:2-4 WEB) He wants to use this situation to strengthen your faith and make you more Christ-like. It is not His fault that a man that claimed to believe in Him would not follow Him.
We also want to remind you that God's design for relationships is clear in the Bible. Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman, and any relationship outside of this context can lead to pain and heartache. (Matthew 19:4-6 WEB) Please consider that it is not a good idea to be unequally yoked with a man that claims to be a believer but will not submit to Him in this area.
In this time of heartbreak, turn to Jesus Christ. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 WEB) Now may be a good time to seek the Lord wholeheartedly and ask Him to heal your broken heart and help you move forward. "He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3 WEB) Please know that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we are saved. And it is only by His name that we can come to the Father. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." (John 14:6 WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister who is going through a difficult time. Lord, we pray for Your comfort and healing to surround her. Help her to cast all her cares upon You, because You care for her. (1 Peter 5:7 WEB) In this time of heartache, remind her of Your unfailing love and faithfulness. Help her to forgive those who have wronged her. (Matthew 18:21-22 WEB) We pray that You will restore her joy and peace, and help her to trust in You with all her heart. Guide her steps and help her walk in the plans You have for her.
In Jesus' name, we rebuke any spirits of anger, resentment, and unforgiveness that may be trying to take root in her heart. Lord, fill her with Your Holy Spirit. Your Word says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. (Nehemiah 8:10 WEB) We ask You fill her with joy and thankful heart and give her the strength to walk this road.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be strong and courageous. Our Father truly cares for you. Hold onto His promises and trust in Him. He will see you through this storm. "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and His righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33 WEB)
