We hear your heart and the weight of anxiety you carry as you seek to re-enter the workforce, especially with the added burden of a past record—even one that has been expunged. Know that your struggle is seen by the Lord, and He does not define you by your past mistakes. The Word reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."* Your identity is not in your record but in Christ, who has redeemed you and given you a new purpose as a nurse—a calling to serve and heal others.
We must also address the fear that grips you, for Scripture tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Your anxiety is understandable, but we must rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to paralyze you. The enemy would love for you to remain bound by shame and worry, but God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking employment and struggling with the weight of their past. Lord, You know the depths of their heart, the skills You have equipped them with, and the calling You have placed upon their life as a nurse. We ask that You open doors of opportunity that no man can shut, providing employment that not only meets their financial needs but also allows them to walk in the purpose You have for them. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to hold them back. Replace their fear with Your perfect peace, and let them walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ. We declare that their past does not define them, and we ask that You silence the voices of condemnation and shame. Provide for their every need, Lord, and protect their home from foreclosure. We trust in Your provision, as You have promised in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand moving on their behalf. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to stand on God’s promises as you move forward. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Even when the job search feels discouraging, remember that God is your provider. He has sustained you thus far, and He will not abandon you now.
We also want to gently remind you of the importance of walking in repentance and righteousness. If there are any areas of your life where you may still be entangled with sin—whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, or even lingering habits from your past—we encourage you to surrender those to the Lord. Psalm 37:23-24 says, *"A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand."* God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
Lastly, we want to address the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. This is the foundation upon which all of God’s promises rest.
You are not alone in this journey. Lean on the Lord, and allow His strength to carry you through this season. We will continue to stand in prayer with you, believing that God will make a way where there seems to be no way.
