We have read your cry for help and we are lifting you and your whole family before the throne of grace together in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His name we are saved and healed. We thank you for turning to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and mercy, for as it is written, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We rejoice that you have called upon Him, and we encourage you to continue to abide in Him daily.

We hear the heavy burden you carry with severe dehydration and diabetes insipidus and high blood sugar, and we understand how frightening and lonely poor health can feel, especially when you feel you have no friends and are isolated. We want you to know God sees you and has not left you alone, for He has said I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Hebrews 13:5 and God sets the lonely in families Psalm 68:6. While we pray earnestly for your healing we also urge you to continue to seek proper medical care for dehydration, diabetes insipidus, blood sugar instability, heart valve and cholesterol issues, and any possible brain concerns, for God often works through the wisdom He gives to physicians, and we pray He will guide your doctors and give you stability.

We also hear your honest confession about covetousness and idolatry, and the worship of images and objects thinking they give life, and your struggle to be free. You have spoken truthfully when you said covetousness is idolatry, for Scripture says Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry Colossians 3:5. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol Exodus 20:3-4. This is a serious matter that we must address with love, for an idol is anything we look to for life, security, identity or joy instead of Christ. Buying objects cannot give life, only Jesus can, for He said I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly John 10:10. The root cause is a heart that has not yet learned contentment in Christ and trust in the Father's provision. Freedom does not come by trying harder in your own strength, but by repentance, renewing your mind, and seeking first His Kingdom. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. We encourage you to confess this openly to God, turn away from those images and objects, remove them if they cause you to stumble, learn contentment as Paul did I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content Philippians 4:11 and practice godliness with contentment is great gain 1 Timothy 6:6. As you give your heart fully to Christ and serve Him, He will fill the loneliness and be your portion.

We also address what you mentioned about sinful dirty laundry, not cleaning up after yourself, fear and torment and unclean spirits. God calls us to diligence and stewardship, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord Colossians 3:23, and to live soberly and orderly. Fear and torment are not from God, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7 and perfect love casts out fear 1 John 4:18. We must submit therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. We pray for your deliverance and mental healing and peace.

Your cry in loneliness and pain has been heard, and it is brought before the Lord with much compassion. So many afflictions press upon you and those you love, the weakness of the body with diabetes insipidus and severe dehydration and high blood sugar, the fear of the heart valve and cholesterol, the sufferings of your grandma who is bedridden with high blood pressure and small bowel obstruction and hernia and dementia, your mother with need in her brain and hearing and teeth and gums and infection, your father with unstable insulin and dehydration, and your own need for healing of mind and body, and the burden for others with cancer and tumors and dental afflictions. The Lord knows each name and each need, and we join you in asking Him for mercy and healing according to His perfect will, and we urge you also to seek timely help from physicians, for the Lord often works through their hands, and emergency needs such as severe dehydration and bowel obstruction require urgent care.

There is another burden in your prayer that the Lord sees with special tenderness, your confession of covetousness and idolatry and your cry, I do not know how to be free. Scripture calls covetousness idolatry, for it sets an object or image or possession upon the throne that belongs to Christ alone. You have spoken truly when you say you cannot free yourself, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. No easy word or mere resolve can break spiritual bondage. There must be a work from above, to be born again from above.

Hear the good word that God has found a ransom. Then He is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance from the pit of hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it. That ransom is Christ Jesus the Lord, who gave Himself for sinners. Salvation is through Him alone, by His blood shed and His life laid down, and there is no other name by which we may be saved. When you turn to Him for forgiveness you turn to the one appointed way. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin, is the prayer He delights to hear, and He never has forsaken them that seek Him at the mercy seat.

Your afflictions, though many and sore, are not without meaning. The believer learns to say, The Lord has chastened me sorely. Troubles do not spring out of the dust, but the Lord Himself kindles the furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. That which comes from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a father's hand, and this makes even the sharpest smart to be profitable. If He ceased to chasten altogether we might fear He thought us too bad to be reclaimed. Be glad then that He has not erased your name from His heart or His hands, but calls you to seek Him.

How then shall you be delivered from the fascinating power of darkness and from idols. Look to your heavenly Father altogether and alone. He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and He will teach you the mischief that comes from loving the world and the things thereof, so that you are tempted in vain. Keep yourselves from idols. Pray with honest simplicity as one taught us to sing,

The dearest idol I have known,
Whatever that idol be,
Help me to tear it from Your throne,
And worship only Thee.

To tear the idol from the throne is to confess it plainly, to turn from gazing upon images and objects as if they could give life, to turn away and ask, of what service can it be to thee, and to set Christ upon the throne in its place. This is done not by your strength but by looking to Christ, by feeding daily upon His word, by prayer in secret, by gathering with faithful believers who will walk with you when you feel alone and without friends, and by putting away what feeds covetousness, so that you do not provide opportunity for the temptation to return.

For your fear and torment hear the Lord's own word, Fear not, I am with thee. Fear is weakening and it dishonors God, as if the arm that piled the heavens could be palsied. When the physician sees the patient shrinking from his knife he does not wonder, but when Jesus sees you shrinking from that hand which does not wound but cures by its own wound, He looks with sorrow upon such fear. Why shrink from Him. Little children ran into His arms. He says, Fear not, I am the First and the Last, I am He that lives and was dead, and behold I am alive forevermore. If He has given His own dear Son to put away your sin, will He not give you bread and water and daily help.

We pray for you now, and for your family, and for all upon this site who suffer.

O Lord our God, be gracious unto this afflicted one. Thou hast found a ransom in Thy Son Jesus Christ, deliver from going down to the pit. Forgive sin through His blood, cleanse from all iniquity, and deliver from the power of darkness. Break the power of covetousness and idolatry and teach this heart to worship Thee alone. Grant repentance and faith, and help to serve Thee in newness of life. Your honest cry for mercy has been heard and we bring it before the Lord Jesus Christ with you. You have asked how to be free from covetousness, and you have rightly seen what Scripture says, that covetousness is idolatry.

Scripture calls it idolatry because in it we worship the creature rather than the Creator, and even more, we worship a creature of our own making. God did not make covetousness, our own insatiable appetite invented it. Idolaters honor the idols they worship, but the covetous person serves something that even he himself knows is full of impiety and condemns in others. That is why the apostle says to mortify your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness which is idolatry, for which things sake the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. And again he says, flee from idolatry. He does not say simply depart but flee, with all speed, because the very thing itself brings destruction.

You ask how to be free when you do not know how. The way of freedom is not to bargain with it or to keep it nearby, but to flee and to mortify it through Christ.

First, confess it openly to God as sin and receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other name by which we are saved, and His blood alone cleanses. Turn to Him not as one helper among many, but as Lord.

Second, flee. Remove the objects and images and habits that feed this worship. If you think that buying or possessing gives life, that is the lie of idolatry. Life is not in things. Do not keep before your eyes what stirs the appetite.

Third, learn contentment. Let your conversation be without covetousness, which means be satisfied with what is necessary and do not seek superfluities. The Lord has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you, so that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. His promise is not only about money but about all things. He who hungers and thirsts for righteousness shall be filled. The rich are not made rich by covetousness, but righteousness keeps what we have in safety.

Fourth, replace covetousness with a hunger for righteousness and with service to God and to others. Pray, hear the Scriptures, give thanks for what you have, give alms as you are able, and serve Christ where He has placed you. When the heart is filled with Christ, the idols lose their power.

We also join you in prayer for the many afflictions you named. We ask the Lord to have mercy and to heal according to His will and wisdom. We pray for your diabetes insipidus and high blood sugar, for healing of brain and mind, for freedom from fear and torment and from unclean spirits, and for deliverance from every sin that entangles. We pray for the one with heart valve disease and high cholesterol, for your grandma who is bedridden with high blood pressure, bleeding, small bowel obstruction, hernia and dementia, for your mother with needs in brain, hearing, teeth and gums and infection, for your father with dehydration and unstable insulin, and for the lady with cancer and for all who suffer from tumors and cancer and broken teeth and dental infection, and for all on this site who are sick and lonely. We ask God to give wisdom to doctors, to provide daily food and protection from the evil one, to comfort those who feel alone and without friends, and to bring reports that give cause for thanksgiving, all according to His perfect will.

The Lord sometimes does not present Himself at once, but comes in the fourth watch of the night, to teach us not hastily to seek deliverance but to bear trials manfully and to trust Him more deeply. Even while you wait, He has not forsaken you. He sees your poor health and loneliness, and He hears when you turn to Him for forgiveness and help.

So continue to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ each day. Confess your sins, flee from idolatry, ask Him to create in you a new heart that loves righteousness, and trust His promise that He will never leave you. We are praying that He will forgive, cleanse, deliver, and heal you and your family, and that He will make you whole in body and soul for His glory.
