Eating, ideal weight, gastritis...

Thank you for sharing this need so honestly. God does care about your body and about these practical matters of eating, health, rest and sleep. Your body is not separate from your spiritual life. Scripture teaches that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that God wants you to be in health even as your soul prospers.

He is interested in what you eat because you cannot continually put what harms your body into it and then ask Him for strength and health. In the Old Testament the Lord made a distinction between foods for His people, and there was a health reason behind those distinctions, foods that would build strength and foods that would harm. In the New Testament there is freedom for believers as Gentiles to eat meats that were once forbidden to Israel, but that freedom is to be used with wisdom. The principle remains to choose what is nourishing and good for you, to prepare it well and to receive it with thanksgiving, and to avoid what you know harms you. Praying for wisdom to eat exactly what your body needs, in the right amount and at the right time, is a good and biblical prayer. Ask Him to help you choose what strengthens rather than what irritates, to be moderate, and to be consistent.

You mention gastritis and muscle restoration. The Gospels show Jesus healing many kinds of sickness, and Matthew connects that healing ministry to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. When Jesus broke the bread He said this is My body which is broken for you, and we remember that His suffering was for our whole need, spiritual and physical. We can come with confidence and ask for healing, knowing He has power over sickness, over the material world and over the spiritual realm. At the same time Scripture also shows that God does not always bring instant healing in every case, as with Paul who prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and learned to trust God's grace and purpose. So we pray with faith for your stomach to be healed and for your muscles to be renewed, and we trust His wisdom and timing, using also the practical means He provides, good food well prepared, rest, and wise care for your body.

You also mention rest, sleep and weight. Sleep is a gift from God. The Psalms say He gives sleep to His beloved, and Proverbs contrasts the way of the wicked who are restless with the path of the just which is like a shining light growing brighter. The commandment of the Lord is described as a lamp and a light to guide that path. That includes the daily disciplines of rest and work. Sleep is not to be wasted in laziness, but it is also not to be neglected. Your body needs real rest to repair muscle, to calm inflammation in the stomach, and to keep weight in a healthy balance. Pray for a steady rhythm, going to sleep and waking at good times, and for freedom from anxiety that robs sleep. As you walk in obedience and bring your eating and sleeping under His light, He can lead you step by step toward the healthy weight you are seeking, not as an idol but as part of stewarding the strength He has given you.

I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one before You. You know the discomfort of gastritis, the desire to eat with wisdom, the need for muscle healing, for deep and peaceful sleep, and for weight to come to a healthy and stable place. Lay Your healing hand upon the stomach and bring calm and restoration. Give wisdom to choose foods that nourish and to eat at the right time and in the right measure. Provide for sound sleep and true rest, and let the body be renewed each night. Help to walk in Your light with self control and peace, trusting that You bore our sicknesses and that You care for every part of us. Give grace for today, strength for the body, and quiet confidence in Your love. Amen.
