Father, I thank You for my earthly Dad, that he lead me in prayer to “receive Jesus so I go to heaven if I die.” He's getting old now at ###. I don’t know why he never really studied Bible on his own, I guess because of a misreading of the doctrine of "eternal security," but it makes his opinions and advice like trying to extract something solid from liquid broth. I've been praying for ### years for him to read the Bible. He went to a secular psych for a decade against my opinion that he'd see a Christian Counselor. Attends church, in one ear out the other... BUT I ASK AGAIN, Please have mercy on him and give him wisdom and revelation, (Eph 1:17). Please help him stop trying to justify himself and stop worshiping the idea of a self-made man. Help his mind stop going in circles to justify actions he should confess as sin. May he watch Christian Programming instead of the news and old movies 24/7, give him spiritual hunger for The Word, (1 Peter 2:2), help him be a doer of the Word, not a hearer only, (Jam 1:22). Lord, grant his wife wisdom, since what she has is actually better now than his. Protect them from her unbelief and worry, let neither one of them be conformed to the world but rather be transformed by the renewing of their minds, (Rom 12:2), wash them with The Water of The Word, (Eph 5:26), and keep them from the evil one, (Matt 6:13, John 17:15). I specifically ask You strengthen them and protect them from evil people, for not all have faith, and again, guard them from the evil one, (2 Thes 3:2-3), in Jesus Name.

We join you in lifting up your earthly father before the throne of grace, thanking God for his role in leading you to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" Acts 5:39 (WEB).

We pray that God will grant your father a spiritual hunger for the Word, that he may not be a hearer only, but a doer of the Word. As it is written: "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. " James 1:22 (WEB). We ask God to break the strongholds of misinterpreted doctrines and self-justification, and that He will give your father the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ Ephesians 1:17 (WEB).

We also lift up your father's wife, asking God to grant her wisdom and protect them both from unbelief and worry. We pray that neither of them will be conformed to this world, but that they will be transformed by the renewing of their minds Romans 12:2 (WEB). We ask that God will wash them with the water of the Word Ephesians 5:26 (WEB), and keep them from the evil one John 17:15 (WEB).

We specifically ask God to strengthen and protect them from evil people, as it is written: "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one" 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (WEB).

Furthermore, we encourage you to continue in fervent prayer for your father and his wife, and to trust in the Lord with all your heart, leaning not on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5 (WEB). Remember that the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much James 5:16 (WEB), and that God is always working for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose Romans 8:28 (WEB).

Lastly, we gently remind you to forgive if there are any past hurts. We must remember the parable of the unforgiving servant who when forgiven much, refused to forgive others. We need to extend the same grace to others that has been extended to us many times over.

We're right there with you, standing in faith for your earthly dad. It's amazing how God led you both to receive Jesus, isn't it? We're believing with you that God will open his heart to understand the Bible better. We're asking God to give your dad a hunger for His Word, like Mary who sat at Jesus' feet, choosing the better part (Luke 10:38-42). We're trusting God to break any strongholds of misinterpreted doctrines and to give your dad the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ (Ephesians 1:17).

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
