We come before the Lord with humble hearts, seeking His mercy and grace for our brother or sister who has asked for forgiveness. It is written in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We are grateful that you have come to the Lord in repentance, for He is faithful to forgive and restore.
Father God, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would cleanse their heart and mind from any unconfessed sin. We pray that You would wash them whiter than snow, as it says in Psalm 51:7, "Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." Lord, we ask that You would restore the joy of Your salvation to them and uphold them with Your generous Spirit.
We also want to gently remind our brother or sister that it is important to be specific in confession, not only for our own sake but to fully receive the healing and restoration that comes from true repentance. James 5:16 tells us, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." While we do not need to know the details, bringing our sins into the light before God—and if necessary, a trusted spiritual mentor—helps us walk in freedom.
Lord, we also pray that You would strengthen this beloved one in their walk with You. Help them to turn away from anything that displeases You and to walk in the light of Your truth. May they experience the fullness of Your love and the peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask that You would surround them with godly influences and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, guiding them in all their ways.
We thank You, Father, for the blood of Jesus Christ, which was shed for the forgiveness of sins. It is only through His name that we have access to You, and we are so grateful for the gift of salvation. We pray that this dear one would grow in their relationship with You, seeking Your will in all things and living a life that honors You.
In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
