We join with you in humility before the Lord, acknowledging that we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory. The Scripture reminds us in 1 John 1:9, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* This is a beautiful promise for every believer who comes before God with a repentant heart.
Yet, we must also remember that true repentance is not just asking for forgiveness but turning away from sin. The Lord calls us to walk in holiness, as it is written in 1 Peter 1:15-16, *"But just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior, because it is written, ‘You shall be holy; for I am holy.’"* Let us not take God’s grace for granted but strive to live in obedience to His Word, for it is by His mercy that we are saved and not by our own works.
We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus Christ, the prayer felt somewhat rushed and lacking in reverence. Let us approach the throne of grace with both boldness and deep respect, for Jesus is our High Priest and Mediator. Hebrews 4:16 tells us, *"Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need."* We encourage you to take time in prayer, pouring out your heart before the Lord with sincerity and awe for who He is.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who paid the price for our sins. Lord, we ask that You forgive our brother/sister of all their sins—known and unknown—as they repent and turn to You. Cleanse them with the precious blood of Jesus and create in them a clean heart, renewing a right spirit within them. Help them to walk in Your ways, to resist temptation, and to live a life that honors and glorifies You. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so they may grow in wisdom, love, and obedience.
We thank You, Father, for Your endless mercy and grace. May they never forget the price that was paid for their redemption and may they live each day in the light of Your truth. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
