We come before you with hearts full of gratitude that you have sought the Father’s forgiveness through the name of Jesus Christ, for it is written, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). It is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace, and it is only in His name that our sins are washed away. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). We thank you for turning to Him in repentance, for this is the path to true forgiveness and restoration.
Yet we must ask, what is the *"thing"* you seek forgiveness for? The Bible calls us to be specific in our repentance, for *"he who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy"* (Proverbs 28:13, WEB). If there is unconfessed sin—whether it be pride, anger, lust, dishonesty, or any other transgression—we urge you to bring it before the Lord honestly. If it involves sin against another, seek reconciliation where possible (Matthew 5:23-24). If it is sexual immorality, such as fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, know that God’s grace is greater than your sin, but repentance means turning away from it (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). If it is bitterness, unforgiveness, or idolatry, lay it at the cross and let Christ transform you.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul before You, knowing that You are rich in mercy and abounding in love. Lord, if there is any hidden sin, any unconfessed wrongdoing, we ask that You would bring conviction by the power of the Holy Spirit. Give them the courage to name it, to turn from it, and to walk in the freedom that comes only through the blood of Jesus. Cleanse them, renew them, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen them to live righteously, for Your glory.
We declare over them the promise of Your Word: *"As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us"* (Psalm 103:12, WEB). Let them walk in the assurance of Your forgiveness and the power of a transformed life. May they no longer be bound by shame or guilt, but may they rise up in the victory of Christ, who has already paid the price for every sin.
We also pray that if there are areas of their life where they have not fully surrendered to You, Lord, that today would be the day they lay it all down. Teach them to walk in obedience, for *"this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous"* (1 John 5:3, WEB).
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Beloved, if you have not yet done so, we encourage you to examine your heart before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal anything that displeases Him, and trust that His conviction is not to condemn you but to set you free. *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way"* (Psalm 139:23-24, WEB). Walk in the light of His truth, and you will find true peace. If you need further guidance or prayer, do not hesitate to share more—we are here to stand with you in Christ.
