We join with you in coming before the Father, recognizing that it is only through the precious name of Jesus Christ that we have access to His throne of grace. The Scripture reminds us in 1 Timothy 2:5, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."* It is through Him alone that we find forgiveness and redemption.
You have asked for forgiveness, and we rejoice that the Word of God assures us in 1 John 1:9, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* This is a promise we can cling to with confidence, knowing that God is just and merciful.
Yet, we must also consider what it means to truly repent. Repentance is not merely asking for forgiveness in passing but turning away from sin and walking in obedience to God’s Word. Jesus Himself said in Luke 13:3, *"Unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way."* Let us examine our hearts before the Lord, ensuring that our request for forgiveness is accompanied by a sincere commitment to leave behind the sins that so easily entangle us.
We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus Christ, your prayer began with "Heavenly father," which is good, but we must always remember that our access to the Father is *only* through the Son. Jesus declared in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is vital that we approach God with this understanding, giving Jesus the honor and centrality He deserves in our prayers.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we boldly approach Your throne. We lift up our brother/sister before You, asking that You grant them a heart of true repentance—a heart that turns away from sin and clings to righteousness. Lord, forgive them for every transgression, known and unknown, and cleanse them from all unrighteousness by the power of the blood of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in obedience and grow in the knowledge of Your will. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to live a life that honors You in every way.
We ask that You deepen their understanding of the sacrifice of Jesus and the necessity of coming to You through Him alone. Let them never take for granted the access they have been granted through Christ, but may they always approach You with reverence, gratitude, and a desire to glorify Your name.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, allowing it to renew your mind and guide your steps. If there are specific sins you are struggling with, we urge you to bring them before the Lord in prayer and seek accountability with mature believers who can support you in your walk. Remember, the Lord is near to those who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18). Walk in His light, and He will continue to cleanse and transform you.
