We join with you in seeking the Lord’s mercy, for it is by His grace alone that we are forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness. The Scripture assures us in 1 John 1:9, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* This promise is certain for all who come to Him in true repentance, turning away from sin and placing their faith in Jesus Christ.
Yet we must also remember that forgiveness is not a vague or general request—it is rooted in the finished work of Christ on the cross. The apostle Peter declared in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through Jesus, the Son of God, that we have access to the Father. When we pray, we come boldly before His throne *in His name*, not our own, for He is our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5).
We also encourage you to examine your heart, as the Lord calls us not just to seek forgiveness but to walk in obedience. Jesus said in Luke 6:46, *"Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say?"* True repentance bears fruit—turning from sin and pursuing holiness. If there are specific sins weighing on your heart, bring them before the Lord in honesty, for He knows them already and longs to free you from their burden.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your boundless mercy and the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through whom our sins are washed away. Lord, we ask that You search our hearts and reveal any wicked way within us (Psalm 139:23-24). Where we have fallen short, grant us true repentance—a broken and contrite spirit that You will not despise (Psalm 51:17). Strengthen us to walk in Your statutes, not in the futile ways of the world, but in the newness of life You have given us through Christ.
We rebuke the enemy’s accusations and lies that would seek to keep Your children in bondage to shame or guilt, for *"there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1). Let Your Holy Spirit fill us anew, guiding us into all truth and empowering us to live righteously.
Father, we lift up our brother/sister who has sought Your forgiveness today. Assure them of Your love and the completeness of Your pardon. May they walk in the freedom and joy of Your salvation, testifying to Your goodness all their days. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
