driving mercies

We join you in lifting up your son, his friends, and all the vehicles on this long drive home, and we thank you for bringing this request before the Lord in the name of Jesus.

We are grateful you have asked in Jesus' name, for it is through Him we have access to the Father and confidence that He hears us. As it is written, Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it John 14:13-14.

We pray for traveling mercies and the Lord's hand of protection over every mile. We ask God to keep them alert, sober-minded, and watchful, to guard them from distraction, drowsiness, and recklessness, and to keep other drivers around them safe as well. We pray for reliable vehicles, clear roads, and favorable weather, and for wisdom to drive with patience and self-control, honoring God even behind the wheel.

We stand on the promises of God's keeping power. Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more Psalm 121:7-8. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways Psalm 91:11. And we cling to this assurance, Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble Proverbs 3:23.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for Your love and faithfulness. We place this son and his friends into Your hands for this long journey home. We ask You to encamp Your angels around each vehicle, to keep them from all harm, accident, and evil. Grant them alert minds, rested bodies, and steady hands. Keep their vehicles running well and guide them safely to their destination. Let Your peace be upon them and upon those who await them at home, and let this trip be a testimony of Your mercy and protection. We thank You in advance for bringing them home safely, and we give You all the glory. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We noticed how simply and sincerely you brought your son and his friends before the Lord, and we want to stand with you in that. A long drive home can weigh on a parent's heart, and it is good to place those you love into God's hands as they travel.

We are thankful with you for the opportunity to bring this to Him, and we join you in asking for His watchful care over each young person, each vehicle, and every mile of road ahead. It can also help to let your son know you are praying and to agree on a quick check-in when they arrive or at a midpoint, so you both have peace along the way. If you are able, a brief prayer together before they leave can be a steady reminder that they are not traveling alone.

Father, we thank You for this parent's love and for hearing every prayer offered in Jesus' name. We ask for Your mercy over this group as they travel, for alertness and wisdom for each driver, for protection from harm, and for safe arrival home. Guard their vehicles and give them clear roads and good rest. Fill their hearts with Your peace and bring them home in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Praying in agreement with you for driving protection for your son, vehicles, and friends in Jesus'name, Amen

We join you in bringing your son, his friends and their vehicles before the throne of grace and asking the Lord for safe passage home.

It is a precious comfort that every mercy we receive comes by way of the Cross and bears the mark of the Redeemer's blood upon it. Among those mercies are what Scripture calls the sure mercies of David, mercies secured not by our worthiness but by Christ Jesus our Lord who died to purchase them and lives to apply them. To ask for traveling mercies in His name is to plead those sure mercies, that in Him there is salvation and safekeeping.

You have done well to incline your ear and come unto Him, for He is a safe shelter. As it is written, He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust. There is more than power in that protection, there is love and kindliness and nearness, as a mother covers her young, so that the child of God is not only kept from danger but made to feel at home under the shadow of the Almighty.

We also take comfort that we are embarked in the good ship of Providence with such a Captain who has foreordained all things. The winds are not left without control, He knows each one and the speed at which it shall travel. When we are on the Lord's way and commit our journey to Him, we may rest beneath the wings of the eternal God and put implicit confidence in His guidance. Each hour may be safe, for God makes it so, and each place of difficulty shall still be secure to those that trust Him.

So we pray with you, that the Lord in His innumerable mercies would grant alertness and wisdom to every driver, keep the vehicles from harm, guard from all peril on the road, and bring your son and his companions home in peace. May He who has kept you in so many mercies new every morning keep them through every mile, and may this journey give fresh cause to count His loving kindnesses and speak of them with gratitude.

We commend them to Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps, trusting that whether in calm or storm we are safe when we rest in Him. May the Lord grant you peace as you wait, and bring them home rejoicing to praise Him together, in Jesus' name, Amen.
