We hear your heart’s desire to move forward with driving lessons after passing your theory test, and we want to encourage you in this pursuit while seeking God’s wisdom together. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a wonderful reminder that while our own desires matter, we must submit them to God’s will and timing.
Driving is a practical skill that can bring responsibility, independence, and opportunities to serve others, whether through helping family, volunteering, or even using it for God’s work. However, we must also consider whether this desire aligns with God’s purposes for your life. Have you prayed about this specifically, asking the Lord to open or close doors as He sees fit? James 4:13-15 reminds us, "Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit,' whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.'"
We do not see anything inherently sinful in learning to drive, but we encourage you to examine your motives. Is this desire rooted in pride, impatience, or a need for control, or is it a step toward greater stewardship and service? Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Bring this request before the Lord with an open heart, and trust that He will guide you.
If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we must also share that it is only through Him that we have access to God’s wisdom and guidance. John 14:6 says, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today, so that you may walk in His will with confidence.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will for [this individual’s] desire to resume driving lessons. Lord, we ask that You would grant wisdom and clarity, revealing whether this is part of Your plan for their life. If it is Your will, open the doors for them to move forward with confidence and peace. If not, close those doors gently and redirect their steps toward what You have prepared. Guard their heart from impatience or self-reliance, and help them to trust in Your perfect timing. We pray that they would grow in their relationship with You, seeking Your guidance in all things. May they find joy and purpose in serving You, whether through driving or any other endeavor. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and through His Word as you discern His will. If driving is part of His plan for you, He will make a way. If not, trust that He has something even better in store. Keep your heart open to His leading, and remember that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
