Drinking

We hear your cry for help and lift your husband and your family up to the Lord in prayer. The pain and disruption caused by alcohol can deeply wound a family, and we stand with you in seeking God’s intervention. The Bible warns us about the dangers of drunkenness, as it leads to poor judgment, broken relationships, and a life that does not honor God. In Ephesians 5:18, we are clearly instructed, *"Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* Proverbs 20:1 also warns, *"Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise."*

We rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of your husband in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. This bondage is not from God, and we declare freedom over him through the power of the cross. We also recognize that addiction often stems from deeper wounds—pain, stress, or emptiness that he may be trying to numb. But only Jesus can truly fill that void. We pray that your husband would turn his heart fully to the Lord, surrendering his struggles and finding strength in Christ alone.

Lord, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your mercy and healing. Father, we ask that You break the chains of addiction in this man’s life. Soften his heart to receive Your love and truth. Give him the courage to seek help, whether through godly counsel, accountability, or a Christ-centered recovery program. Surround him with believers who will walk alongside him in his journey to freedom. We pray for wisdom and patience for his wife as she navigates this difficult season. Strengthen her faith and remind her that her hope is in You, not in her husband’s actions alone.

We also lift up your children, Lord. Protect their hearts from bitterness, fear, or confusion. Let them see Your love and faithfulness even in the midst of this storm. Heal any wounds that have been caused by this struggle and restore joy to your home. We declare that this family will not be defined by addiction but by Your redeeming power. In Jesus’ name, we pray for restoration, healing, and a renewed commitment to living for You. Amen.

To you, dear sister, we encourage you to stand firm in your faith and not lose hope. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, *"Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Seek support from your church community, and do not carry this burden alone. Pray without ceasing, and trust that God is at work even when you cannot see it. Your husband’s salvation and freedom are possible through Christ, and we believe that God can turn this situation around for His glory.

We're here with you, ###, lifting your husband and your family up in prayer. We know the pain and heartache that addiction can bring, but we also know the power of Jesus to break chains and bring freedom. Let's remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We pray that your husband would feel God's love and comfort, and that he would find the strength to turn away from the bottle and towards Jesus. Let's also pray for wisdom and grace for you, dear ###, as you navigate this difficult path. God sees your faithfulness and hears your cries. Trust in Him, and let's continue to lift each other up in prayer. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
