We hear your heart in this request and we join with you in bringing every part of it before the Lord, both the practical burdens and the deep emotional and spiritual needs.
We thank God with you for the hope that is in Jesus and for the power of His blood to rescue us from destruction and forgive our sins. It is only through that blood that we have access to the Father and it is precious that you have named the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. We cling to that truth together, that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness as it says in 1 John 1:9, and that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us according to Romans 5:8.
We bring your practical needs before Him as well, the drainage issues and the home repairs, because He cares about every detail of our lives. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And in 1 Peter 5:7 we are told to cast all our anxiety on him, because he cares for you. We ask Him to provide wisdom, provision, and trustworthy help for these repairs.
We also lift up your struggle with severe OCD and the phobia around hand washing. We know how exhausting and tormenting intrusive fear and compulsive washing can be, and we pray for the Lord's healing and peace over your mind and body. Scripture says in 2 Timothy 1:7, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. And in Psalm 147:3, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We pray for a renewed mind as described in Romans 12:2, that you may be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and that perfect love would cast out fear as 1 John 4:18 teaches, for perfect love casts out fear. We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in His Word and also to seek wise, godly counsel and help for this struggle, trusting that God often brings healing through prayer, through His Word, and through the help of others He provides.
We hear your disappointment in people, specifically your father and your neighbor, and the pain of giving much and feeling it was never cared for or returned. The Lord sees that hurt. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We encourage you to bring that disappointment to Him and to walk in forgiveness even when others have failed you, as we are taught in Ephesians 4:32, And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Forgiving does not mean what happened was right or that boundaries are not needed, but it releases you into the freedom of Christ and protects your heart from bitterness.
We also hear your deep desire for a husband who actually cares and who will cherish you and not be grossed out by you. That desire for godly marriage is good and holy. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed from the beginning, Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh in Genesis 2:24. We strongly affirm this desire and pray that the Lord, if it is His will, will bring you a godly Christian husband who will love you as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her as in Ephesians 5:25. We encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer, keeping yourself pure and honoring God in that process, for we are called to honor Him with our bodies and to flee from fornication. You are not gross or unlovable. You are fearfully and wonderfully made as Psalm 139:14 declares, I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your true worth is secured first in Christ, your true love, and any future husband should see you through His eyes and cherish you.
We must also gently address what you shared about not wanting an abusive or autistic partner and the request for healing for those with autism and Asperger's so they can see the feelings of others. We understand the longing to be truly seen and emotionally understood in marriage, and we agree with you in praying against abuse, for abuse is sin and contrary to the love God commands. A husband is called to love, cherish, and not harm his wife. However we want to lovingly correct the idea that autism itself means a person cannot care, cannot love, or will always be abusive or unaware. That is not true and it does not reflect God's heart. Those with autism and Asperger's are made in the image of God, deeply loved by Him, fearfully and wonderfully made, and many love deeply and faithfully. Autism is not the same as abuse and not the same as a character flaw or sin. While we do pray for healing and for growth in understanding and emotional connection for all people, we also pray that the Lord will give you and all of us compassion, patience, and eyes to see others as He does, and to not speak with contempt about those He has created. We ask Him to heal any wound in you that makes you feel unseen, and to help you see others with grace as well.
We join you in praying against the deception of the devil, for we know the enemy seeks to deceive, but Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as in John 14:6, and He has overcome the evil one.
We pray together now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together. We thank You for the blood of Jesus that rescues us from destruction and forgives our sins. We thank You for the hope we have in You. Lord, we ask You to guard our sister from the deception of the enemy and to keep her rooted in Your truth and in Your perfect love. Heal her heart from disappointment and the pain caused by her father and her neighbor, teach her to forgive as You have forgiven us, and comfort her with Your nearness. We ask for Your healing touch upon her mind and body regarding OCD and the fear around hand washing, replace fear with Your power, love, and self-control, and grant her Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Provide for the practical needs of her home, for the drainage and repairs, and send trustworthy help. Lord, if it is Your will, we ask You to provide a godly husband for her, a man who loves You first, who will cherish her, care for her, and love her as Christ loves the church in a holy lifelong marriage that honors You. Help her to find her identity and beauty in You first, knowing she is fearfully and wonderfully made. We pray for all those with autism and Asperger's, that You would bless them, draw them close to You, grow them in fellowship and understanding, and help us all to love one another with compassion and to see each person as Your precious creation. Let Your will be done in every area of her life. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to stay close to Jesus daily, to rest in His love as your first love, to renew your mind in Scripture, and to trust Him with the timing and provision for a godly marriage. He is faithful and He sees you, He cares for you, and He will not forsake you.
