Please pray for me. I’ve been having a lot of nightmares, but also some dreams that feel tied to the prophecy about me and my ex. In one of them, I was asking myself if I’m doing all of this because of obedience to God or just because of selfish desires in my heart, and I didn’t know how to answer. In others, I dreamed about things like her baptism, her brother being part of it, even him officiating a wedding, and us sharing moments together. I don’t know if these are from God or just my own imagination, but they feel very real and they stay with me. Please pray that the nightmares stop, that I can find peace in my sleep, and that if these dreams are truly from God, He will make it clear in His timing.

We lift you up before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, knowing that He alone is the source of truth, peace, and discernment. Your dreams and nightmares have clearly stirred deep questions in your heart, and we urge you to test everything against Scripture, for God is not the author of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). The enemy often uses dreams to deceive, distract, or instill fear, while God speaks with clarity, conviction, and alignment with His Word. Your uncertainty about whether these dreams stem from obedience to God or selfish desires is a critical question—one that must be answered with honesty before the Lord.

First, let us address the nightmares. These are not from God, for He gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2) and does not torment His children with fear. We rebuke every spirit of fear, torment, and confusion in the name of Jesus Christ, commanding these nightmares to cease immediately. "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). We pray that the Lord would surround you with His peace as you sleep, guarding your mind and heart in Christ Jesus. "You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you" (Isaiah 26:3, WEB). May the blood of Jesus cover your sleep, and may His angels encamp around you (Psalm 91:11).

Now, regarding the dreams that feel tied to prophecy, we must approach this with great caution and discernment. Dreams that involve your ex—especially those depicting emotional or relational moments—must be carefully examined. The Bible warns us not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) or to follow our hearts, which can be deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9). If these dreams are stirring longing, hope, or emotional attachment to a past relationship, we must ask: *Is this from God, or is it the flesh or even the enemy tempting you to look backward instead of forward?*

You mentioned dreams of her baptism and her brother officiating a wedding. While baptism is a beautiful symbol of repentance and new life in Christ, we must remember that salvation is a personal journey between an individual and God. It is not our place to chase after or emotionally invest in the spiritual decisions of others, especially an ex. As for the dream of a wedding, we must be blunt: if this dream is reigniting hope for reconciliation, you must surrender that hope entirely to the Lord. Scripture is clear that marriage is a lifelong covenant (Matthew 19:6), and if this relationship ended, it was not God’s perfect will for it to be restored unless both parties are walking in repentance, holiness, and clear direction from the Lord. Even then, reconciliation would require wisdom, counseling, and confirmation from godly leaders.

The dream where you questioned your own motives—whether you are acting out of obedience to God or selfish desires—is a critical moment of conviction. This is a question you *must* answer before the Lord. Are you holding onto this relationship in your heart because you truly believe God is leading you to pursue it, or because you miss the companionship, the emotional connection, or the idea of what could have been? Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24, WEB). Self-denial is not optional in the life of a believer. If your desires are not aligned with God’s Word, they must be surrendered.

We also notice that your prayer request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not already, we urge you to repent of any area where you may have placed your hopes, dreams, or emotions above Christ. He must be your first love (Revelation 2:4). If you are not born again, we plead with you to surrender your life to Jesus today. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9, WEB). Without Christ, there is no true peace, no clear direction, and no power to overcome the schemes of the enemy.

Here is our prayer for you:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is troubled by dreams and nightmares. Lord, we ask that You rebuked every spirit of fear, torment, and deception that is attacking his mind while he sleeps. Fill his nights with Your peace, Lord, and let him rest in the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 91:4). We pray that You would expose any lies of the enemy and bring clarity to his heart regarding these dreams. If there is any word from You, Lord, make it unmistakably clear—aligned with Your Word and confirmed by Your Spirit. But if these dreams are not from You, we ask that You would silence them completely and free him from any emotional bondage tied to the past.

Father, we pray that You would search his heart (Psalm 139:23) and reveal any selfish desires, idolatry, or unrepentant sin that may be clouding his judgment. If he has placed this past relationship—or the hope of it—above You, convict him deeply and lead him to full surrender. Break every ungodly soul tie, Lord, and set him free to walk in the newness of life You have called him to. If there is any area of his life where he has not fully submitted to Your lordship, we pray for a spirit of repentance to fall upon him.

Lord, we ask that You would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let him not be led by emotions or dreams, but by Your Word and Your Spirit. If there is a word You have for him, speak clearly, Lord, and let it be confirmed through Scripture and godly counsel. But if this is a distraction, we pray You would close this door permanently and redirect his focus entirely to You.

We pray for his future, Lord. If it is Your will for him to marry, we ask that You would prepare a godly wife for him—a woman who loves You with all her heart and who will walk beside him in obedience to Your Word. But until that time, we pray You would satisfy him with Your presence and teach him to find his fulfillment in You alone.

Finally, Father, we pray that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him discernment, wisdom, and a heart that seeks You above all else. Let him not be deceived by the enemy’s schemes, but let him walk in the truth of Your Word. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."*

Brother, we urge you to fast and pray over this matter. Seek the Lord with all your heart, and ask Him to reveal His will to you. Spend time in His Word, and ask godly, mature believers to pray with you and offer wisdom. If these dreams are causing you to look back, it may be time to cut off all contact and remove anything that keeps this past relationship alive in your heart. "Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old" (Isaiah 43:18, WEB). God has a future for you, but you must let go of the past to walk in it.

Stay steadfast in prayer, and do not let the enemy use dreams to lead you into emotional bondage. "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things" (Philippians 4:8, WEB). Fix your mind on Christ, and trust that He will lead you into all truth.

Dear friend, we're here for you. We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you. First, let's address those nightmares. We believe God wants you to have peaceful sleep, so we're claiming that promise over you tonight. "Peace, be still" (Mark 4:39), we command every spirit of fear and torment to leave you in Jesus' name. We ask the Lord to fill your nights with His peace and protect your mind and heart as you sleep.

Now, about those dreams. We understand they feel real and significant, but remember, not all dreams are from God. The Bible tells us to test everything against Scripture (1 Thessalonians 5:21). So, let's be cautious and discerning. If these dreams are stirring up emotions or longings for your ex, we need to ask if this is God's leading or just our flesh wanting what it can't have.

We're not here to judge, but to help. So, let's be honest with ourselves and with God. If these dreams are making you look back instead of forward, we need to surrender those feelings to God. He has a future for you, but you can't hold onto the past.

We're praying for you, that God would give you clarity and peace. We're asking Him to reveal any selfish desires or idolatry in your heart and help you surrender them. We're also praying for your future, that God would prepare a godly partner for you if that's His will.

Stay strong, dear friend. Keep seeking God, stay in His Word, and trust that He has a plan for you. And remember, we're here for you, praying with you every step of the way.
