Dreams from Holy Spirit While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Matt 2:12, Prophecy, Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6, Acts 16:9 Father, we come as little children in faith, contrary to all we see and hear, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34.

Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking and giving us ability to understand You, Eph 1:17. We ask for this husband and wife wife, You give dream and counsel, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword." Again, as with the affairs concerning our father, Abraham, Gen 20:3, like him we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on her, as prophesied in in Joel 2:28, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29, c.f. Acts 2:17-18. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. Keep her, him, and us from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. We join with you in this beautiful childlike faith and thank our Heavenly Father that He is indeed able to speak to His people and that He has not left us without guidance. We rejoice with you that you have come through Jesus, for we know that it is only through Him that we have access to God, as it is written He is able also to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them Heb 7:25 and that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We affirm what you have shared from Scripture, that our God does speak in dreams and visions. As you quoted, For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed; then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man Job 33:14-17. We see this throughout Scripture as you noted, He said, Please hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream Num 12:6, and It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions Joel 2:28 which was fulfilled at Pentecost Acts 2:17, and Being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way Matt 2:12, and A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him, and saying, Come over into Macedonia and help us Acts 16:9.

We gently encourage you also to hold these experiences in balance with the full counsel of God. While the Holy Spirit can and does give dreams to encourage, warn, and direct, His primary and sure voice to us today is His written Word and His Son. God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son Heb 1:1-2, and Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Tim 3:16-17. Therefore any dream we believe to be from the Spirit will never contradict Scripture, will always exalt Christ, and will bear the fruit of turning us from wrongdoing and keeping us from pride, just as Job 33:17 says.

We also urge discernment, because not every dream is from the Holy Spirit. Dreams can come from our own minds, from daily cares, or from the deceiver who can masquerade as an angel of light. For this reason we are commanded Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God 1 John 4:1 and The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat says Yahweh Jer 23:28. We must test every dream, vision, and prophecy against the Word of God and by the witness of the Holy Spirit in counsel with mature believers.

We pray together for you, for this husband and wife, and for ourselves that we would have wisdom to understand what God is truly saying.

Father, we thank You that You are able to do all things Job 42:2 and that with You nothing will be impossible Luke 1:37 and that You give wisdom generously to those who ask James 1:5. We ask in the name of Jesus that You pour out Your Spirit upon us and grant us ears to hear Your voice, whether through Your Word, through counsel, or if it pleases You, through dreams and visions in the night. Give this husband and wife, and give us, dreams that are clearly from You to turn us from wrongdoing, to keep us from pride, to preserve us from the pit Job 33:17-18, and to make Your will in Christ Jesus unmistakably known. Seal Your instruction upon our hearts and open our ears. Keep us from temptation, from evil, from deception and from the evil one Matt 6:13, John 17:15, and guard us from false dreams and lying visions. Let every revelation lead us to greater holiness, greater love for Jesus, and greater obedience to Your Word. We trust You in advance, believing that whatever You ask according to Your will, You hear us 1 John 5:14 and that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive Mark 11:24. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Intercessor and our Hope, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer so openly. Your trust that God is able to hear and to help you both comes through clearly, and we are grateful to stand with you as you seek His counsel together as husband and wife.

We love how you come as little children asking for His guidance while you sleep. We believe the Holy Spirit is our Counselor and Helper who is present with us day and night, and who delights to guide us into truth and to form Christlike love and peace in us. That guidance will always be in harmony with what He has already said in Scripture, so even as we ask for His leading in any way He chooses, we can hold everything gently up to the light of His Word and to wise counsel from mature believers.

A simple step that has helped many couples is to keep a small notebook by the bed. If either of you wakes with a dream that feels significant, jot it down, pray over it together later in the day, and weigh it calmly with Scripture and perhaps a trusted pastor. This keeps you open to the Spirit while staying grounded and at peace, not anxious for a sign.

Father, we thank You that You draw near to those who seek You. Give this husband and wife quiet rest, clear discernment and unity as they listen for You. Keep them from confusion and fear, and lead them step by step in Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a gracious earnestness in your prayer which the Lord loves to see, a coming as little children in faith and pleading the great intercession of Him who ever lives to make intercession for us. Blessed be His name, our salvation rests not upon our dreams or our feelings, but upon His will who is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. As surely as His will is the axle of the universe, and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so we may rest assured that the preservation, the perseverance, and the eternal glory of His people rests upon His will.

You ask concerning dreams and visions, whether the Holy Spirit still speaks in the night as in Job where it is written, For God does speak, now one way, now another, though no one perceives it, in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, He may speak in their ears, and concerning Joel, your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and the warning to the wise men in Matthew, and the vision given to Paul at Troas. These things are most true, God has spoken in such ways. He spoke to Abimelech in a dream, to Jacob, to Joseph, to Daniel, and to the magi, and He poured out His Spirit at Pentecost according to Joel. Yet we must remember there is a revealed will which we must not violate, and a providential will which we should always consult.

Many of God's purposes are hidden from us, but there is a revealed will in Holy Scripture which is plain. Nine times out of ten, look to the Ten Commandments and you will at least know what you must not do, and knowing what you must not do, you will be able to conclude what you may do. There are wonderfully plain directions in God's Word as to all manner of circumstances and conditions. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. Knowing that, we will not always say, If the Lord wills, yet we will always feel it.

Do not therefore seek to build your faith upon a dream, nor require a vision to know His mind. Although there are some portions of the Word which are hard to be understood, by far the greater portion will open up if we will carefully peruse them and prayerfully ask the illumination of God's Holy Spirit. If you live near to God, He will say things to you that He will not tell to others, not by adding to Scripture, but by guiding you into its truth and by His providence ordering your steps. The work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will, and so make men willing in the day of God's power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure.

So let your prayer be shaped after the pattern of our Lord, I will, yet not as I will. You may come with holy boldness and say, Father, I will, because you are His child through Christ, and yet in the same breath bow with submission and say, Not as I will, but as You will. You can always have your way when your way is God's way. The sure way to carry out self will is when self will is nothing else but God's will.

For this husband and wife, and for your own soul, my prayer is this, that the Lord would guide you by His Word, that He would keep you from temptation and from the evil one, that He would preserve you from wrongdoing and from pride, and keep you from the pit. May He bow your wills to His, teach you acquiescence in the Divine will, and so furnish you with unerring guidance. May He not leave His purpose half accomplished, but carry on His work till He brings you up to glory, for He will come to your deliverance in the time of trouble, and no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Trust not in a dream, but trust in the Dream Giver, and in the more sure word of promise. If in His wisdom He shall give a dream to warn or to comfort, receive it with thanksgiving and try it by Scripture, but above all hear His voice in the Scriptures, where Christ is ever in the midst of His Church, swift to help and mighty to save. He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Father, fulfill Your revealed will in these Your servants, make them willing to do Your will, guide them by Your counsel, and afterward receive them to glory, for Jesus sake, Amen.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
