Dream Home

Your longing to be near family and to be near your church family is a beautiful and biblical desire. Scripture puts a strong emphasis on family responsibility, teaching that care for our own household comes first, and that the church family is meant to support those who are truly without family to help them. The desire to live close enough to love and serve both your relatives and your brothers and sisters in Christ reflects the heart of what God intends for His people.

It is natural to carry a picture in our hearts of a dream home or a dream place of fellowship, down to the details of how it looks and how life would feel there, and to think that if God would just grant that picture we would be settled and content. Many of us have held that kind of dream, imagining a small and quiet place where we could simply love the Lord and grow with others. What we learn over time is that God often blesses beyond the frame of our dream. He may give what we ask for, or He may expand it, or redirect it, because His purpose is larger than our comfort. He is not only concerned with giving us a house, but with making our lives fruitful where we are and where He leads.

The Bible shows that God has at times spoken through dreams and visions, and He still can reveal His will in that way. Yet not every dream comes from Him. Many dreams simply reflect our own hopes and concerns. The story of Joseph in Egypt is a help here. He dearly wanted to go home to his father, and he hoped a connection in the palace would open that door, but God kept him in Egypt because there was a work for him to do there. In the same way, the king in Babylon had a dream that truly carried a message from God, but only God could give the true interpretation, and the one who interpreted it gave God all the credit and pointed to things yet to come. This teaches us to hold our dreams humbly before the Lord, asking Him to show us whether a desire is from Him and to give us wisdom to understand His timing.

We also know we cannot purchase the blessing of God. Salvation and His favor are not bought with money or with a larger gift to the church. What Christ has purchased with His own blood is far greater than any building. He gave everything to purchase a people for Himself, His church, made up of those from every family and tribe who have trusted in Him. The church is not finally walls and carpet and gardens, but the people themselves, and the gates of hell will not prevail against them. A home becomes most blessed when it serves that greater treasure.

In the early church, believers who had homes often opened them to others, and the church met in those large rooms. Their homes became places of hospitality, prayer, and the Word. Whether God provides the exact house you are picturing or another place that meets your needs, He can use whatever home He entrusts to you as a place to show love, to practice hospitality, and to strengthen fellowship.

So we pray for you and your family that the Lord will provide clearly and graciously according to His perfect will. We ask Him to open the right door at the right time, to give you wisdom in financial decisions, to keep love at the center of your home and your church life, and to guard you from discouragement while you wait. We pray that you will be near to family and to your church family as He enables, and that wherever He plants you, your home would be a place where Christ is honored and where others find encouragement. May He lead you step by step, and may you trust that His plan for you is good, even as you continue to bring this dream before Him in prayer.
