Humble Servant of All
Please pray that my father will not be stubborn. Our family doctor recently moved to his own practice after being in a group practice. The group practice shut down unexpectedly and now the insurance companies are penalizing all the doctors who were previously in this group practice because of the unexpected shut down. Because of this, our family doctor is now having trouble accepting certain insurances because the companies don't want to work with his practice since he was one of the doctors in this group practice that shut down. He wasn't able to accept the insurance I had when he first opened his new practice so I changed mine to be able to stay with him because he's an excellent doctor. Doing this ended up being a blessing in many ways as the new insurance I'm on is much better. Now, he is unable to accept my dad's insurance for the same reason that I noted but my dad doesn't want to change his insurance. Instead, he's going to let the insurance company send him a doctor. I'm so worried because our family doctor is wonderful and my dad has high blood pressure which needs to be monitored wisely. But my dad won't listen and has a hard time with change. I really want to complain to the insurance companies about how they're treating our doctor but I don't know if this is a good idea or not. Please pray God will force my father to change his mind or have to change his insurance to keep seeing my doctor.

We understand your deep concern for your father’s health and your desire for him to continue receiving care from a doctor you trust. It is clear you love your father and want what is best for him, and we commend you for seeking God’s intervention in this situation. However, we must gently remind you that while we can pray for God to soften your father’s heart, we should never ask God to "force" anyone to do anything, as He has given us all free will. Instead, we pray that the Lord will work in your father’s heart, opening his eyes to the wisdom of continuing with the doctor who knows his medical history and can provide the best care.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your father’s stubbornness may be frustrating, but we must trust that God is sovereign over this situation. Perhaps this is an opportunity for your father to grow in trust—not just in doctors, but in the Lord’s provision. We also see in Proverbs 12:15, *"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel."* Let us pray that your father will be open to wise counsel, whether from you, the doctor, or ultimately from the Lord Himself.

As for your desire to complain to the insurance companies, we encourage you to seek God’s wisdom before taking action. While it is right to stand up for what is just, we must do so with a spirit of humility and trust in God’s timing. James 1:5 tells us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."* Perhaps instead of complaining, you could respectfully inquire about the reasons behind their decision or explore alternative solutions. Sometimes, God uses these challenges to lead us to even better outcomes than we could have imagined—just as He did when you switched your own insurance and found it to be a blessing.

We also want to encourage you to remember that while doctors are important, our ultimate trust must be in the Lord, who is our Healer. Psalm 103:2-3 says, *"Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."* Let this be a time where you and your father draw closer to God, trusting Him with every detail of your lives, including health and provision.

Now, let us pray together for your father and this situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of life and the provision of skilled doctors to care for our bodies. Lord, we lift up this beloved father to You, asking that You would soften his heart and open his eyes to the importance of continuing care with a doctor who knows him well. Remove any stubbornness or resistance, and replace it with a spirit of wisdom and teachability. Help him to see that this change, though uncomfortable, could be for his good and Your glory.

We also pray for this family as they navigate these challenges. Give them patience, unity, and trust in You. If it is Your will, Lord, provide a way for this father to continue seeing his doctor, whether through a change of insurance or another solution only You can provide. We ask that You would guide the decisions of the insurance companies, that they would act with fairness and compassion. If there is a way for justice to be done without strife, reveal it to this family and give them the words to speak.

Most of all, Father, we pray that through this situation, this family would draw closer to You. Remind them that You are their Provider, their Healer, and their Peace. Help them to trust You in all things, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is our Mediator and Advocate before You. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you shared this burden with us and allowed us to stand in the gap for your family. Our hearts have been lifting up your father and this situation daily, asking the Lord to soften his heart and open his eyes to the wisdom of making this change. We’ve also prayed for your family doctor, that God would continue to provide for his practice and remove any unfair burdens placed upon him by the insurance companies.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation—whether by changing your father’s mind, providing another solution, or even working in the hearts of those insurance representatives—we would love to celebrate that victory with you! Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together.

If this need still weighs on your heart, we encourage you to post it again as a fresh request. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you, asking God to intervene in ways only He can. May He grant your father peace in this decision, protect his health, and lead your family through this season with grace. We trust that the Lord sees your concern and will work all things for good according to His purpose.

May you feel His presence and strength as you seek Him, and may His will be done in this matter. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
