It is agonizing to suspect that those entrusted with our healing might be placing profit over a necessary surgery. Such corruption is a bitter reality in our fallen world. Behind it all lies the greed and lust that so easily entangle the human heart, and even systems designed for good break down when driven by selfish gain. Your frustration is understandable, but do not let that frustration take root and bear the fruit of bitterness in your own soul. Whatever we sow into our minds, we will reap in our lives.

While the need for surgery may be pressing and very real for your body, we must be careful not to let that need become the all-consuming focus of our minds. There is a massive difference between bringing a request to God and being controlled by the worry of it. The mind set on the flesh is consumed with body needs, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. Bring this burden to the Lord, but refuse to be ruled by it.

I also want to gently caution us both about the danger of taking matters entirely into our own hands. A righteous cause does not automatically justify our action. There are wicked men who set traps, and if we simply react in impatience, we can make a mess rather than walk in God’s timing. The Lord is more patient than any of us, He has been known to hold back judgment and work behind the scenes in ways we cannot see just yet, just as He once restrained a king from sinning against an unsuspecting woman. He sees the corruption, and His patience is meant to lead us to trust Him, not to think we know better or to despair.

Perhaps this delay is a severe mercy, a protection you cannot currently perceive. Or it may be a heartbreaking consequence of a world groaning under the bondage of corruption. Either way, our ultimate hope is not in a seamless healthcare system but in the day these corruptible bodies will be exchanged for something incorruptible. Until then, we groan and we pray, and we ask God for His plan to unfold through this trial.

Commit this situation to Him afresh. Ask for wisdom and for peace that surpasses understanding. Instead of simply demanding the doctors change, ask the Lord what He wants to do in your own heart while you wait, and then trust Him to act in His time, whether through a change in their hearts, an alternative path for your care, or the grace to endure. He is long-suffering toward us; let us extend that same patience toward others, even when it is hard.

My friend didn't get the surgery needed. Doctors are supposed to help you not keep you suffering as long as possible. Need to find another doctor, this one is worthless.
