Your prayer concerning your right leg has been heard and we bring it before the great Physician with earnest supplication.
We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are painful and press us to seek help, and we rejoice to know that there is One to whom no sickness is too deep and no case too hard. The power which dwelt in Christ to heal while He sojourned here has lost none of its virtue, and the costly balm of His atonement still flows. Have confidence, poor trembling heart, have unstaggering confidence in the Divine Healer.
It is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and we learn from this that even the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things as it were about Him, are full of healing virtue. He is not like an army surgeon who hurries along and says a leg off here, an arm off there, but He comes gently and sympathizingly, and He takes care even of the trifles of His people. What is true of the soul is true also of the body when it pleases His wisdom, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings.
We pray that the Lord Jesus Himself would lay His hand upon you. May He who said, Son be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and who joined pardon and healing together, show you both mercies. We ask the pardoning God to grant you first the peace of forgiveness through faith in His blood, and then such bodily mercy as His infinite wisdom sees best to give. We entreat Him to look upon your right leg, upon the veins and all that inward part which causes you pain and trouble, and to repair what is broken and to restore what is weakened, according to His good pleasure. None can set a limit to the healing flood of His love, and the utmost length of human sickness can be reached by Him.
Cast yourself upon Him and trust Him fully. Seek Him believingly and obediently, for everything in the economy of Divine Grace comes to us by faith. Continue also to use the means which Providence has placed at your hand and to heed the counsel of your physician, remembering that commonplace instrumentality and the Divine Worker are joined together, and Christ will have all the glory.
May the Lord sustain your spirit while you wait upon Him, and may you prove that Divine Grace can sustain even here, and that whether He restores at once or sustains through trial, His love remains immutable and His power unabated. We commend you to that love which breaks the rock in pieces and softens the heart, and we pray that you may find healing and pardon in Christ Jesus our Lord.
