DO NOT BE AFRAID!
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.†Luke 1:26-33
Have you read the Christmas story in Luke 1:26-38 or in Matthew yet? I pray as you go to church this Lord’s Day you will start to enjoy hearing and singing the Christmas carols. We have a lot to celebrate this month. Our Lord and Savior was born!
Now wherever you go shopping you hear the stores playing Christmas carols. It always touches me so much. I know how your heart is hurting, often your eyes well up with tears of sorrow and the fear of being alone this Christmas. I pray that the Holy Spirit will give you a flashback of a special Christmas to remember. I love listening to Christmas music as Bob and I loved music. Yes, each Christmas is always going to be bittersweet for me without Bob, but instead I am focusing more on the importance of the birthday of our Lord Jesus. Remember, your children need you to make Christmas important for them as you make good memories for their lifetime.
What is your greatest fear this Christmas? We have many standers who have to face divorce court in December. Please pray that all divorces are postponed or canceled forever! Some prodigal spouses are planning their wedding or wanting to "legalize their adultery." We know of standers who are facing personal or family health problems. We also have men and women who are facing unemployment and financial obstacles, in addition to their marriage problems.
What fear are you facing this Christmas? Do you have fear of the unknown? Are you fearful of your future? Are you afraid of the responsibility that has been thrown on you without any choice? Are you afraid that your children are going to be permanently affected by your marriage problems? Are you afraid of your employment being inadequate? Are you afraid of being alone? Are you afraid that your Lord God might not restore your marriage? Are you afraid to trust God? Has fear crept into your heart?
Throughout the Bible, we hear God speak to His children, "Do not be afraid." The angel of the Lord, Gabriel, said to Zechariah, to Mary, to Joseph and to the Shepherds, "Do not be afraid. I am bringing you good news." That was the message for them and for you! "Good News!"
The Lord wants you to know He has "Good News" for your future. I pray that you will allow the Lord to say to you today, "Do not be afraid. I have brought you good news. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust Me." What was your personal message from your Lord when you started seeking His face for the answers to your marriage problems? How did you find our daily devotionals? Is it possible that your Lord had you find us so that we can give you hope, faith and encouragement? Now we continue to teach you that God hates divorce and wants to heal and restore your marriage. May you remember that fear is the opposite of faith. What other messages from the Lord have you received?
The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. Psalm 118:6-7
Do not be afraid! God is in control of your life. Whatever happens has been filtered through the mighty hands of God. The Lord has spoken to His children since the beginning giving them a message of instructions and then a promise. You have a choice, to believe or not believe!
May you always remember that the Lord has His plan for you, your husband or wife and your children. He wants you to follow Him. This Lord’s Day spend time seeking the Lord and He will calm all your fears. Remember, the Lord had a plan for Mary and Joseph far beyond what they could ever imagine.
"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God." "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her. Luke 1:34-38
“May it be to me as you have said." Never forget how Mary answered the angel. What are you responding in your heart to the Lord as He speaks directions to you?
In the quietness of your heart, I pray that you will hear the still, small voice of God, reassuring you; "Do not be afraid, dear one, you have found favor with God, your marriage will be healed. This will happen for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it. Be still and know that I am God. Nothing is too hard for Me to do. Worship and praise My holy Name. I was born to seek and save the lost and to give the gift of eternal life. Don’t give up! I want your marriage restored more than you do!â€
God hates divorce and He is going around the world healing and restoring marriages every day because of all the fasting and prayers that are being lifted up by His faithful children. Now walk in faith and in victory! You are a child of God, so do not be afraid!
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
