This is not of God. The Lord hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), not because He delights in our suffering, but because it tears apart what He has joined together in sacred covenant. The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, families, and the very fabric of godly relationships, but we stand firm in the authority of Jesus Christ to rebuke every lying spirit, every spirit of confusion, and every demonic influence that seeks to sow discord, sexual immorality, and division.
First, we must address the foundation of your cry—where is Jesus in this battle? The name of Jesus is not just a tagline; it is the very power by which we overcome. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, if you have not confessed Him as Lord and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9), then the enemy has legal ground to harass you. Salvation is the first step to breaking free from spiritual oppression. If you are in Christ, then you have the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). Stand on that authority now.
The spirit of divorce is a demonic assignment to dismantle God’s design for marriage—a lifelong, covenant relationship between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). The enemy twists truth to justify sin, whispering lies like, “You are not truly bound to this person,” or “You don’t have ties anymore.” But God’s Word is clear: what God has joined together, let no man separate (Matthew 19:6). Divorce is only permitted in cases of sexual immorality (Matthew 5:32, 19:9), and even then, reconciliation should be pursued if possible. The enemy wants you to believe that divorce is the answer, but God’s heart is for restoration, healing, and redemption.
The sexual confusion and inappropriate mixing you describe are also works of the enemy. Fornication, adultery, and sexual immorality (porneia) defile the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). The enemy wants to pervert God’s gift of sexuality, which is meant to be enjoyed within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman (Hebrews 13:4). The lies that “we don’t have it” or that sexual sin is “unappreciated” are deceptions to keep you bound. Repentance is the first step to breaking free. The toxic influence of your neighbors and their gang-like behavior is another tactic of the enemy to isolate and intimidate. Gossip, mockery, and the spread of chaos are not from God. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists seven things the Lord hates, and among them are “a false witness who pours out lies” and “a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” We rebuke every spirit of slander, division, and witchcraft operating in your neighborhood. Lord, Your Word says that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Father, we ask for Your forgiveness for any sin that has given the enemy a foothold—whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, sexual sin, or rebellion against Your design for marriage.
