Divine guidance

Kensem

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join with you in bringing this situation before the Lord in Jesus' name and we thank you for asking for prayer in His name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. As it is written, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We hear the burden you are carrying regarding your former landlord and those around him, and the wild and disrespectful trouble they have caused. Your reference to Proverbs 29:18 is so fitting, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed Proverbs 29:18. When people reject divine guidance they indeed run wild, casting off restraint, but there is joy and blessing and peace when we submit to God's instruction.

We also think of the wisdom that Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. This is what we desire for this man, that he would stop leaning on his own ways and acknowledge the Lord so his path can be made straight.

We pray together now for him.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this former landlord to You. Lord, You see the wild behavior, the disrespect, and the trouble that has been caused. We ask that You would soften his heart and draw him to Yourself. Grant him divine guidance and the humility to submit to You, to accept Your revelation and Your law. If he does not know You as Savior, we pray that You would open his eyes to his need for repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, for You desire all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4. Pour out Your Spirit upon him and those around him, turn them from strife and bring conviction where there has been rebellion. We ask that You would replace wildness with restraint, disrespect with honor, and trouble with peace.

We also pray for you who have endured this trouble. We ask the Lord to guard your heart from bitterness and to give you His peace that surpasses understanding. We are called to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who hate us, and pray for those who mistreat us and persecute us Matthew 5:44. We pray for grace to do that even when it is difficult, and we remember the word If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. We pray that God will protect you, vindicate you where needed, and give you wisdom in any further dealings. If any injustice remains, we trust that You, Lord, will repay, for it is written Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and we can rest in Your righteous judgment while we seek to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21.

We encourage you to continue to seek divine guidance for yourself as well, asking God daily for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him James 1:5. Keep obeying His law and walking in His ways, for that is where true joy is found, and trust that God sees every trouble and will work for the good of those who love Him Romans 8:28. We stand with you in prayer that the Lord will bring order where there has been wildness and that His will be done in this situation for His glory.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about this landlord situation. It is wearisome to deal with wild, disrespectful behavior, especially when it spills over to others around him and creates ongoing trouble for you.

We are asking God to work in his heart and to draw him toward humility and a willingness to listen to the Lord, and we are also asking God to guard you with wisdom and peace as you navigate this. When conflict stays heated, it helps to give it structure rather than letting it escalate. One steady practice is to pause to pray and get clear on the facts before responding, hold to respectful boundaries, and try to understand what is driving the other side without getting pulled into shouting or retaliation. If direct conversation is not safe or productive, a calm third party like a pastor, mediator, or trusted community leader can sometimes help lower the temperature and keep things orderly.

We also encourage you to keep a simple written record of what has happened and what has been communicated, which can bring clarity and protect you if you need to seek further help.

Father, we bring this former landlord before You and ask that You soften his heart and lead him to seek Your guidance. Calm what has been wild and disrespectful, and bring order where there has been trouble. Give our friend wisdom for each interaction, protection, and Your joy and steadiness in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a true word you have quoted, that when people do not accept divine guidance they run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. Where the light of God is refused, darkness reigns, and with darkness comes wild and disrespectful conduct that vexes and troubles others.

God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all, and consequently He cannot have fellowship with darkness. He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are, and if He is to deal graciously with any man, that man must stand in the light and present himself before God as he is. The condition you describe in this former landlord and those around him is a fitting emblem of the unconverted heart, possessed not perhaps with devils in the outward sense, yet possessed with devilish vices and lusts which destroy the soul. Such wildness is the fruit of refusing the guidance of the Holy One.

We will pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found, that the Lord will be pleased to visit this man with divine guidance and bring him to submission before God. We ask that He who can transform the lion into a lamb and the raven into a dove would work such a change in him, that he would come to hate sin with perfect hatred and have no fellowship with it. May the Lord show him his true condition in the light, and lead him to see his need of the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses from all sin. May He grant him a new heart that finds joy not in running wild, but in obeying the law of the Lord.

For your own soul, take comfort that Christ can sympathize with you in this trouble, for He has suffered and still sympathizes with His people. You must be in the same world with such persons, but keep yourself distinct from them. Go not into their society by your own choice, nor seek your pleasure with them, but maintain communion with Christ by prayer and by the Word, and in meditation and thanksgiving speak often with your risen Lord. When we once get right with God, we get right with everything, and He will keep His own in peace even when others rage about them.

Let us pray together. O Father of light, in whom is no darkness, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask that You would shine Your light upon this former landlord and those with him, that they may no longer run wild but may submit themselves to Your divine guidance. Convict them of sin, bring them to repentance, and cause them to walk in the light where fellowship with You is found. Turn their wildness to meekness and their disrespect to reverence, for Your glory. And grant to this Your child who has prayed, joy in obedience, patience under trouble, and daily cleansing through the blood of Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and righteousness. Amen.
