Divine guidance

Kensem

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

The Three Greatest Things to Do

Safety for Young Men
A young man’s safety depends on love of home, hard work, high ideals, Sabbath rest, and faith in Christ.
We join you in bringing this situation before the Lord and we thank you for asking for prayer in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His name we are saved. As it is written, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We understand the frustration and trouble that a wild and disrespectful former landlord and those around him can cause, and we agree with you that what is needed is for hearts to submit to God and accept His divine guidance. You quoted Proverbs 29:18 well, which in full says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed Proverbs 29:18. When people reject the Lord's instruction they indeed run wild, but obedience brings joy and order.

We also take comfort in the call to trust the Lord fully for guidance ourselves, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We are praying not only for him but also for you, that you will continue to walk in that trust and not be overcome by bitterness or a desire for retaliation.

We pray together for this man and those around him.

Father in heaven, we lift up this former landlord and the circle of people around him to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You soften his heart and draw him to Yourself, that he would submit to You and resist the enemy, for Your word says Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. Pour out Your revelation upon him, turn his wildness to self-control, his disrespect to honor for others, and his trouble-making to peace. We ask that You lead him to repentance and to joyful obedience to Your law, that he may know the blessedness of keeping Your ways. We also pray for protection and peace for the one who submitted this request, help them to rest in Your justice and not their own, and to live out If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. Help us all to obey Your command to love our enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. We ask that Your will be done in this situation and that even this difficulty would be used for Your glory and for the salvation of souls. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for this man’s salvation rather than only for the trouble to stop, and to commit him to the Lord who is able to change any heart. We also encourage you to pray for authorities and for peace as we are instructed to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, for all men; for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence 1 Timothy 2:1-2, and to leave vengeance to God, for it is written Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. Keep seeking divine guidance for yourself daily through prayer and the Word, and the Lord will keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him.

We can hear how wearying this season with your former landlord has been, especially when disrespect keeps stirring up trouble even after you have moved on. It makes sense you would long for him to turn toward God and for peace to replace the wildness you have experienced.

We are joining you in praying for that, and also for your own steadiness and wisdom as you navigate any ongoing contact. When disagreements escalate to where wellbeing or property or peace is at risk, it helps to have a clear, calm structure rather than trying to absorb it all in the moment.

One practical step that often brings some relief is to pause for prayer and fact finding before responding, keep any necessary communication brief and in writing, and keep a simple dated note of what happened if issues continue. If further intervention is needed, a trusted pastor or a biblically grounded mediation ministry can help diffuse things without you having to carry it alone.

We are also praying for the landlord and those around him, that God would draw them toward humility and respect, and for you to know joy and protection as you obey the Lord in this hard situation.

Father, we lift this landlord to You and ask that You would soften his heart and lead him to seek Your guidance. Guard our friend from further harm and trouble, grant wisdom for each interaction, and replace turmoil with Your peace. In Jesus name, amen.

There is great wisdom in the word you have quoted, for when divine guidance is refused men do indeed run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. Your burden for this former landlord is a right and needful one, and we will bring it before the throne of grace.

Bear in mind that the house in which we dwell in this life has God for its Landlord, and that we are only tenants. Every man holds his lease from the Royal Owner, and must at last give an account of how he has kept the house. When a tenant lives as though there were no Landlord, he leaves the house in a dilapidated state and brings trouble upon himself and upon others. Our prayer is that this man may remember that he is but a tenant under the best Landlord in the whole universe, and may be made mindful of the time of his removal and set his house in order before God.

We will pray that the Lord will draw near to him, for the only radical and efficient cure for the great evil of iniquity is for the sinner to come back to God. May the Spirit of God work in him to cause him to sorrow for sin, to forsake his wild and disrespectful ways, and to submit himself to divine guidance. We do not ask God to bless wildness or strife, but to grant repentance and a new heart, that this man and those around him may walk in obedience and find that joyful life which belongs to those who keep the law of the Lord.

Let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found.

O Lord our God, for Your name's sake pardon iniquity where it has been great, and display Your mercy. You have a name for pardoning the guilty, and we plead that name now. We ask that You would subdue this former landlord to Yourself, turn him from running wild to walking humbly before You, and give him grace to accept Your divine guidance. Bring peace where there has been trouble, and let Your Word have its proper rule in his heart. Grant him to live for eternity and for Christ's glory, and to become a faithful tenant under Your ownership. We ask this not upon any merit of our own, but upon the merit of Your Son, our only hope. Amen.

Continue, as one who both prays and watches, to look for the answer. The Lord sees fit to reserve His answer for a season for the trial of faith, but the petition labeled for you in the treasury of heaven shall be given in due time. Pray in the Holy Spirit, humbly and earnestly, not puffed up with pride but sensitive to His direction, and be very businesslike before the Mercy Seat, asking plainly for that which God would have you desire. Guard with jealous care your own heart, read His Word to know more of Him, and honor the Mercy Seat as a place for true communion and not for mere form. The Lord who stirs the heart to earnestness will not leave earnest prayer unanswered, and He will grant you to see His hand for good as you wait upon Him.
