“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18


Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join you in lifting this situation before the Lord and we agree with you in asking for divine guidance to prevail.

You have rightly remembered Proverbs 29:18, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. When people reject the counsel of God, lawlessness and disrespect follow, just as you have described with your former landlord and those around him. The Word shows us that a heart without God will indeed run wild, but God is able to change even the hardest heart.

We also remember what Jesus taught us, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44. And we are reminded, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:18-19. We encourage you not to carry bitterness, but to entrust justice and restoration to God while continuing to pray for this man’s soul.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. We thank You that You desire all people to come to repentance, for You are patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9. Lord, we lift up this former landlord and the people around him to You. You see the wild and disrespectful behavior and the trouble that has been caused. We ask that You convict their hearts by Your Holy Spirit, that You remove the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh, as You promised, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you, Ezekiel 36:26. Bring them to submit to You, to accept Your divine guidance, to humble themselves and obey Your law that they may find true joy and blessedness instead of disorder.

Father, we also ask for Your protection and peace over the one who has been troubled by this. Grant wisdom to respond with grace and firmness, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him, James 1:5. Let Your peace that surpasses understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. Help him to walk in forgiveness while also seeking what is right and just in Your eyes.

We trust that You are sovereign and that You can bring order from chaos and turn even those who have been wild toward Your righteousness. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how draining this has been with your former landlord. When someone who held authority over your home acts wild and disrespectful, and pulls others into it, it can leave you feeling unsettled long after you have moved on. We are joining you in prayer for this.

We appreciate your heart in this, asking not for payback but that he would turn toward God and receive guidance. That is a good and loving thing to pray, even when the trouble he caused is still fresh.

While we pray for God to soften his heart, it also helps to protect your own peace going forward. If you still need any contact with him about paperwork, a deposit, or belongings, it can bring steadiness to keep everything in writing, keep brief notes of dates and what was said, and if a conversation is needed, have a calm, trusted person with you or nearby. It keeps things clear and helps you not have to carry the tension alone.

We are asking God to give you wisdom and quiet in the days ahead, and to work in your former landlord's life in a way that leads to more respect and restraint.

Father, we bring this landlord before You and ask that You draw him to Yourself and lead him toward wisdom and self control. We ask for Your protection and peace over our friend who was hurt by this, and for clear guidance for whatever next steps are needed. Give rest where there has been turmoil. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer is a wise and scriptural one, for where divine guidance is refused men do indeed run wild, and where the law of the Lord is loved and obeyed there is great peace and joy.

It is needful to remember that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all, and therefore He can have no fellowship with darkness. He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are. When men walk in darkness and in disrespect and troubling of others, they are not walking with God, and their condition will not tally with the way of peace until they stand in the light before Him as they are, see sin in themselves, and feel the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing them therefrom. The Lord never has fellowship with misrepresentation or with iniquity, and if any man is to walk with God at all it must be in the light.

We will pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found.

We ask the Father that He would in mercy visit your former landlord and those around him, that He would shine the light of His truth upon them, convict them of their wild and disrespectful ways, and bring them to submit themselves to His divine guidance. May He grant them repentance, that they would turn from darkness to light and from the power of sin to God, and find that their great debt of sin is discharged only by the blood of Jesus who died for all believers. We do not ask God to bless wildness or wrong, but to change the heart, to transform the lion into a lamb, that they may hate sin and have no fellowship with it, and learn to love His law and walk in honest dealing before Him.

And for you who have been troubled by these things, we pray that the Lord would keep you in perfect peace. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even in this dark world of sin. Though duties press and sorrows surge round, on Jesus bosom there is calm to be found. Leave your sorrow with Jesus, bear it with Him, and know that He sympathizes with His people, for He has suffered and still cares for His own. May you be kept distinct from the world while yet in it, seeking no fellowship with darkness, but finding your communion with Christ to be deeper than any other fellowship, and your joy in obeying His law to be great and abiding.

May the Lord hear this prayer and answer according to His perfect wisdom and grace, for His glory and for your good, in Jesus name. Amen.

Your request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to God and salvation.

You quoted well from Proverbs that when people do not accept divine guidance they run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. This is true. Without the restraint and light of God's Word, hearts become unruly and lives bring trouble to others. With His guidance, there is order, peace, and joy.

We will pray that your former landlord and those around him will submit to God, turn from what is wild and disrespectful, and receive the guidance that comes only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We ask the Lord to soften his heart, to bring him to see his need for mercy, and to lead him to walk in obedience.

At the same time, hear a word of counsel for your own soul in this trial. God is not a God of war and fighting, and He calls His people to make war and fighting to cease. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. The more your neighbor wars against you, the greater will be your reward if you remain at peace. Do not bite and devour in return, and do not be overcome by the desire to undermine another's reputation or to repeat what may not be true. If we remember evil and hold on to enmity, we remain far from God. If we let go of remembrance of wrongs, we are set free from many charges against us. Every conflict has its root in the things of this life, in covetousness or vainglory or envy. Cut out the root and there will be no bitter fruit. Learn to despise the passing things of this world and to guard the treasure above, which no man can steal.

So we pray also for you, that you may be kept from bitterness and murmuring, that you may serve God acceptably with thankfulness and reverence even in this difficulty, and that you may show nobleness of spirit by waiting quietly before God and not rushing into conflict.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask for Your divine guidance to be at work. Bring this former landlord to submit himself to You. Open his eyes to see the trouble that a wild and unguided life causes, grant him repentance and faith in Christ alone for salvation, and teach him to love You and to love his neighbor as himself, for on this hangs all the law and the prophets. Where there has been disrespect and trouble, bring conviction, restraint, and peace. Guard the one who has asked for prayer from all malice and anxiety, fill his heart with joy in obeying Your law, and make him a peacemaker who imitates Your Son. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Lord. Amen.
