Divine guidance

Kensem

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join with you in bringing this situation before the Lord in Jesus' name and we thank you for seeking prayer according to His will. You have shared a very true word from Proverbs 29:18, When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful. Without the restraint and wisdom that comes from submitting to God and His Word, hearts become unruly and actions become disrespectful and harmful to others, just as you have experienced with your former landlord and those around him.

We are reminded that God desires all people to come to repentance and to walk in His ways, and that He is able to soften even the hardest heart. We pray for this man that the Lord would draw him to Himself and grant him a new heart and a new spirit as promised in Ezekiel 36:26. We ask that God would open his eyes to see the trouble his wild behavior has caused and bring him to a place of humility and repentance before God.

We come together in prayer in Jesus' name.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we lift up this former landlord and the people around him to You. Lord, You see the disrespect and the trouble that has been caused. We ask that You would convict their hearts by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to submit to You and to accept Your divine guidance. Instruct them and teach them in the way they should go as You promise in Psalm 32:8, and guide them with Your eye upon them. Grant them wisdom to understand that true joy and order come from obeying Your law. We pray that You would turn them from running wild to walking in obedience, that they would seek Your forgiveness and walk in reverence for You and respect for others. We also pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would guard their heart from bitterness and grant them Your peace that surpasses all understanding as in Philippians 4:7. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, and to acknowledge You in all their ways so that You will direct their paths according to Proverbs 3:5-6.

We encourage you to continue to seek divine guidance for yourself daily and to respond to this difficult situation in a way that honors God. The Lord calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us as taught in Matthew 5:44, and to live at peace with all people as far as it depends on us as written in Romans 12:18. This does not mean accepting ongoing harm or disrespect without wise boundaries, but it does mean releasing vengeance to God, for He has said in Romans 12:19 that vengeance belongs to Him and He will repay. We encourage you to keep praying for this man’s salvation and transformation, to forgive as the Lord has forgiven you in Ephesians 4:32, and to seek wisdom from God who gives generously to all who ask without reproach as promised in James 1:5. If legal or practical matters remain unresolved with this former landlord, seek godly counsel and act with integrity and calmness, trusting that God is your defender and your guide.

We thank God that you have asked in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and through which we have access to the Father as declared in Acts 4:12 and John 14:6. We trust that as you continue to obey the Lord and walk in His law, He will fill you with His joy and lead you in paths of peace even in the midst of trouble.

We hear how wearying this season with your former landlord has been. When the people around you act without restraint and with disrespect, it can leave you feeling unsettled and on edge, so it makes sense you would long for God to bring a different spirit there.

We join you in praying that he would turn toward God and become willing to be led. We have found that divine guidance is not so much about chasing a feeling or a sign, but about a humble willingness to be instructed and to walk in a steadier, more considerate way. We pray God softens his heart to want that kind of direction.

As you continue to pray for him, we encourage you to care for your own peace as well. One steady step that helps many in strained situations like this is to keep a simple written note of any further contact and to stay connected to community, sharing what is happening with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can offer clear perspective and help you think through wise boundaries so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this former landlord and those around him to You. Draw him to Yourself and give him a heart that wants to listen and to live with restraint and respect. Guard our friend from further trouble, give wisdom for each interaction, and replace anxiety with Your steady peace. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We have heard your burden and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, in the name of Jesus Christ alone, through whom alone salvation is found.

You have well quoted the proverb, When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. Where the light of God is refused, darkness reigns, and where darkness reigns there is wildness and disrespect and trouble. For God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all, and He can have no fellowship with darkness. He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are, and He never has fellowship with misrepresentation.

We pray in Jesus name that your former landlord may be brought to stand in that light and to present himself before God as he is, confessing his need. By nature every unconverted man is possessed with vices and lusts which will destroy the soul, and Satan perverts the truth to keep him there. Only Christ can deliver, for He has suffered and He can sympathize with those who are vexed and troubled by the wildness of others, and He still sympathizes with His people in their distress.

Our prayer is that God, who makes His own people to go forth like sheep and fetches them out from among the rest of mankind with a high hand, would work that same gracious change in this man and in those around him. That He would transform the lion into a lamb, giving him a new heart that hates sin with perfect hatred and has no fellowship with it, and that he may see his sin and daily feel the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing him therefrom. For there is no concord of Christ with Belial, and no true joy apart from being reconciled to God through the cross.

We ask the Lord to grant him repentance and faith in Christ, that he may submit to divine guidance and find the joyful obedience of which the proverb speaks, not in mere outward restraint but in inward renewal. And we ask that He would keep you distinct in the midst of trouble, in the world yet not of it, seeking your communion with Christ in prayer and in the Word and in meditation, where you may speak with Him as with your nearest friend.

May the Lord who has sworn that He will deal graciously with those who walk honestly before Him give you peace, guard your heart from bitterness, and teach you to leave vengeance with Him who deals justly with all His adversaries. May you know the comfort of Christ who makes even trying circumstances to be borne with patience, and may your mouth be filled with thanksgiving as you see His hand guiding you.

We commend this landlord and all who have caused trouble to the mercy of God, praying that they may yet be called His people who were not His people, and be beloved who were not beloved, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
