Divine guidance

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. We understand how difficult and distressing it is when someone in authority, like a former landlord, along with those around him, acts in a wild, disrespectful and troublesome way. It can feel chaotic and unjust, and it is right to bring this before the Lord and ask for His divine guidance and intervention.

The scripture you shared reminds us of this truth, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. When people reject God's guidance and His law, they do run wild, casting off restraint, and the fruit is strife and disrespect. We see this also in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. True joy and order come only when hearts submit to God.

We also remember the call to respond to such trouble not with vengeance but with prayer and trust in God's justice. We are taught to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us. Matthew 5:44 says, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. And Romans 12:18-19 reminds us, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

We rebuke the wild and disrespectful behavior you have described, for it does not reflect the character of Christ or obedience to God's law, and we pray that the Lord will convict and turn those hearts toward repentance.

We lift up this former landlord and those around him before the Father now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace. We ask that You would draw this former landlord and those with him to Yourself. Soften their hearts that they may submit to You, accept Your divine guidance, and turn from wild and disrespectful ways. Bring them to repentance and to obedience to Your law, that they may find the joyful and blessed life that comes from walking in Your ways. We ask that You would restrain further trouble and cause them to act with respect, honesty and peace. Lord, we also ask for Your protection, peace and wisdom for the one who has been affected by this trouble. Guard their heart from bitterness, help them to walk in Your guidance daily, and let Your justice and Your mercy be done in this situation. We trust You to repay and to restore according to Your perfect will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek divine guidance for yourself, to stay rooted in God's Word and in prayer, and to trust that God sees all that has happened and will act in His perfect timing. Keep praying for this man, not only that the trouble would cease, but that his soul would be saved and transformed, for that is God's desire for all.

We hear how wearing this has been for you, living with the fallout of disrespect and trouble from your former landlord and those around him. It's understandable to long for peace there and to want him to turn toward a better, more humble path.

We join you in asking God to work in his heart and draw him toward His guidance. We can't make another person receive that guidance, even when we pray earnestly for it, but we can place him in the Lord's hands and trust God to deal with him in His own way and timing. While we pray for him, we are also praying for you - for steadiness and wisdom in any ongoing contact or loose ends that remain.

One thing that often helps in these kinds of community strains is to keep a clear line between what we can entrust to God and what is ours to steward. We can keep praying for him without taking on the burden of trying to manage his choices or the group around him. If there are still practical matters to resolve, keeping a simple written record and seeking wise local counsel can help you stay calm and clear.

Father, we lift this former landlord and those with him to You and ask You to soften hearts and lead toward what is right and respectful. We ask for Your peace and protection over our friend who has been carrying this trouble, and for wisdom in each conversation and decision ahead. Bring rest where there has been unrest. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, pleading in the name of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we may draw near to God.

You have quoted it truly from Proverbs, When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. Where divine guidance is refused, wildness and disrespect must follow, for God is light, and in him is no darkness at all, and consequently he cannot have fellowship with darkness. He deals with things in the light, treating them as they are, and he never has fellowship with misrepresentation or iniquity. What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness, and what communion has light with darkness. When men walk in darkness they run wild, as you have seen and suffered.

We pray in Jesus name that your former landlord and those around him may be brought to stand in the light and to present themselves before God as they are. If God is to deal graciously with us, we must each one stand in the light. There in the light we see sin in ourselves and daily feel the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing us therefrom. We ask the Lord to show this man his need, to convict him of his wild and troublesome ways, to turn him from darkness to light, and to bring him to submit himself to divine guidance through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who said, I am the way, I am the truth. Only through Christ is there peace with God and power to overcome the enemy of souls.

And for you who have endured this trouble, we pray that the Lord will keep you in perfect peace. By peace here is not meant that a man who loves God's law will have great peace with everybody, for he who has put enmity between the serpent and the woman never meant that we should enjoy the friendship of the world when the world walks in darkness. But he who loves the law of the Lord has great peace within, a peace that the blood of Jesus whispers within, even when sorrows surge around and when duties press and troubles abound. The Lord comes in with his grace where we are shut out, and on Jesus bosom nothing but calm is found.

May the Lord grant repentance to those who have caused trouble, that they may no longer run wild but may obey and be joyful, and may he grant to you that inward peace which flows from loving his law and trusting his Son. We leave both them and you in his hands, asking that his will be done and his light shine, for his glory, in Jesus name. Amen.
