Divine guidance

Kensem

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join you in praying for divine guidance to bring order where there has been wild and disrespectful behavior, and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.

As you shared, Proverbs 29:18 says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. When people reject God's guidance, they indeed run wild, but obedience brings joy and peace. Your former landlord and those around him who have caused trouble are in need of that revelation and restraint that only comes from submitting to God.

We also remember the call to respond to such trouble in a godly way. Matthew 5:44 says But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. And Romans 12:18-19 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. We rebuke the wild, disrespectful and troublesome behavior you have described because it does not align with God's righteousness and His desire for people to live peaceably and respectfully toward one another. Such conduct casts off restraint and harms others, and God calls all people to repentance and to walk in His ways.

We pray together for him and for your peace.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this former landlord and the people around him. Lord, we ask that You soften his heart and grant him a spirit of repentance, that he would submit to You and accept Your divine guidance. Open his eyes to see the trouble and disrespect he has caused, and lead him to turn from wild ways to walk in obedience to Your law. We pray Proverbs 3:5-6 over him, that he would Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Bring conviction where there has been wrongdoing, bring justice where it is needed, and bring peace where there has been strife. We also pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would guard their heart from bitterness, grant them wisdom, and let them rest in Your justice and protection. We cling to the promise in 2 Peter 3:9 that You are patient, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, and we ask that this patience would lead this man to salvation and transformation. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to entrust this situation to the Lord, to seek peace as far as it depends on you, and to trust that God sees all that has happened and will act in His perfect justice and mercy.

We have been praying for you in this difficult situation with your former landlord. It is exhausting when people around you act wildly and disrespectfully, and you are left carrying the trouble they cause. We understand why you are asking God to draw him toward His guidance.

We join you in asking the Lord to work on his heart, to bring a willingness to listen and to choose a more peaceful way. We also pray for you, for steadiness and wisdom as you navigate what has already happened.

One thing that has helped others in ongoing community friction is to keep things structured and calm on your side. Keeping a brief written record of what happened and when, keeping communication in writing where possible, and if further contact is needed, inviting a calm third party to be present can keep things from escalating and protect your peace. It does not fix the other person, but it gives you clarity and margin while you continue to pray.

Father, we lift this former landlord and those around him to You and ask that You would lead him to seek You and to walk in Your ways. Bring peace where there has been turmoil, and guard our friend with wisdom and joy as they trust You. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your petition before the throne of grace and we join with you in asking the Lord to work in the heart of this former landlord.

You have quoted the proverb truly, when people do not accept divine guidance they run wild, but whoever obeys the law is joyful. We see this verified in the case you describe, where wildness and disrespect have brought trouble. Such running wild is the natural fruit of a heart that refuses to be guided, for naturally we do not like being guided. It is a work of grace upon the heart that makes a man feel his need of a Guide.

Remember what we have often taught, that the house in which we dwell in this life has God for its Landlord and that we are only tenants. Every second we hold our lives and goods upon the sole tenure of the Divine Will. There is a clause in the lease which some have never observed, namely that the Landlord has at all times the right to enter and leave His own property. This man may have acted as though the house were his own to use as he pleased, but he is himself a tenant under the great Landlord. We pray that he may be brought to offer the key of his house to that great Landlord and acknowledge that he lives on sufferance as His tenant, and that the rent required, which is obedience and a holy life, may be rendered to Him to whom it is due.

Our hope for him is not in his own better nature, but in Divine Sovereignty and Divine Grace. There is no attribute more comforting to the tried child of God than to know that the Lord reigns and that we must trace His hand in everything. He can save the most obstinate and bring opposers to the feet of Jesus. His Divine Spirit can display His power over the most unlikely persons to the glory of His grace. We pray that grace may dethrone obstinacy in this man and give in its place acquiescence in the Divine will, for by bowing with submission to the will of God we are furnished with unerring guidance.

We ask that the Lord would clothe His wisdom in robes of love and tenderness before this man, that he may not shun it, but run into its arms. May great principles be infused in him, that he may avoid everything that is evil, that haste which is the author of a great deal of mischief may be forsaken, and that he may learn to walk in the way of Divine gentleness and courtesy.

We also pray for you who have suffered this trouble. Divine interpositions come in the way of deliverance from floods of trouble, and though not miraculous, they are full of wonder. May the Divine Presence which dissolves difficulties be your portion, and may you find that joyful obedience which the proverb promises.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, Thou great Landlord of all, look in mercy upon this man who has run wild for want of Thy guidance. Subdue his wild and disrespectful spirit. Take away his obstinacy and give him a heart to submit to Thee. Let him feel his need of a Guide and take Thee for his Guide. Bring him to know himself a tenant under Thy hand, and to render to Thee the obedience Thou dost require. Restrain him from further trouble and cause him to walk in peace toward his neighbor. And for Thy troubled child who brings this request, grant deliverance and joy in obedience. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our Savior. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
