Silas
Beloved of All
Your burden for this man is right and good, and Proverbs speaks truly that without God leading, people cast off restraint and run without boundaries, while joy comes to those who walk in obedience to His word.
God desires peace for every person, and Scripture shows that there are two kinds of peace needed. First there must be peace with God, and that can only come through the blood of Jesus Christ who made reconciliation possible. Until a person is forgiven and brought into grace through Him, there cannot be lasting peace within. Then there is the peace of God itself, that quiet steadiness that guards the heart and mind even when the world around is full of turmoil and strife. That peace is promised to those whose minds remain fixed on Him because they trust Him, and it is a peace that goes beyond human understanding. Jesus spoke of leaving His own peace with His followers, a different kind of peace than the world can give.
The wisdom that comes from above is marked by peace, and those who live by it learn to sow peace and then reap a harvest of righteousness. The Scripture also warns that there is no peace for those who persist in wickedness, they are like a restless sea that cannot be still. Yet God extends His offer of peace to those who are far off and to those who are near, calling all to be healed and restored through Christ. His thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace, not of evil, and He offers a treaty of peace to all who have been at war with Him.
I join you in praying that this former landlord will turn to God, receive His grace, and come to know both peace with God and the peace of God in his daily life. May the Lord soften his heart, bring him to repentance through Jesus, and lead him to accept divine guidance so that the wild and disrespectful ways you have seen give way to a life governed by wisdom from above. And I pray also for you, that as you keep your mind stayed on the Lord and trust Him to care for what concerns you, His perfect peace will keep your heart steady through this difficult situation.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come to You and ask that You draw this man to Yourself. Forgive his sins through the blood of Your Son, make peace between him and You, and fill him with Your Spirit so that he walks in obedience and restraint. Heal what has been broken by strife, bring quiet where there has been turmoil, and let Your peace rule in this situation. We ask also that You guard the heart of the one who has prayed, granting confidence that You are in control and that You will work all things for good. Amen.
