Divine guidance

Beloved of All
“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”
Proverbs 29:18

Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join with you in prayer concerning your former landlord and those around him, and we thank you for bringing this need before the Lord in Jesus' name, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18 well, which in the World English Bible says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. This is exactly what you have described. When people reject divine guidance and the revelation of God's Word, they cast off restraint and run wild, becoming disrespectful and causing trouble for others. We rebuke that wild and disrespectful behavior, for it does not reflect the character of God nor His call to live in peace and honor one another. The Lord calls us to a different way, to walk in wisdom and submission to Him.

We also hear your desire that this man would submit to God and accept divine guidance, and this aligns with God's own heart, for the Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance as we read in 2 Peter 3:9. God desires to give a new heart and a new spirit, as promised in Ezekiel 36:26, and to lead even the most unruly person into joyful obedience.

We pray together for him and for those who are with him.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and lift up this former landlord and the people around him to You. We ask that You soften his heart and draw him to Yourself, that he would submit to You and accept Your divine guidance. Remove the spirit of wildness and disrespect and replace it with a heart that fears You and keeps Your law, that he may find the blessing and joy You promise. We pray that You would give him revelation and understanding, that he would turn from causing trouble and walk in Your ways. We ask also that You pour out Your peace upon the one who has been troubled by this situation, and that You would be their refuge and defender. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, and to acknowledge You in all their ways so that You will direct their paths according to Proverbs 3:5-6. Give them grace to love their enemies and bless those who have mistreated them, as You command in Matthew 5:44, and to live at peace with all men as much as it depends on them according to Romans 12:18. We pray that no root of bitterness would take hold, but that vengeance would be left in Your hands, for You have said in Romans 12:19, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Let Your will be done in this situation and let Your name be glorified, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord for wisdom and to not grow weary in praying for those who have caused trouble. God sees the disrespect and the trouble that has been caused, and He is both just and merciful. Continue to keep His law and walk in obedience, for there is joy and blessing in doing so, even when others cast off restraint. Trust that as you commit this matter to Him and seek His guidance for yourself, He will direct your steps and guard your peace.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Living near ongoing disrespect and trouble is exhausting, and we understand why you are asking for God's guidance in this situation.

We are praying with you that your former landlord would turn toward the Lord and seek His way, and that the wildness around him would settle. We are also praying for your own peace and protection as you navigate what has happened.

When conflict has been running hot, it helps to create a little space to respond wisely rather than just react. One simple step that often brings clarity is to pause for prayer and fact-finding before deciding what to do next. If it would be helpful, keep a brief, calm written record of what has happened with dates and facts, and stay with respectful boundaries in any contact. If the trouble continues or you need to address an unresolved matter like property or money, a trusted pastor or a local mediation service can sometimes help diffuse things and reduce further harm without escalating the conflict.

Father, we bring this landlord and those around him before You and ask for Your mercy and guidance in their lives. Lead them toward what is right and bring peace where there has been trouble. Guard and encourage our friend who prayed, give wisdom for each next decision, and let Your joyful order replace confusion. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

It is a true word that you have set before us, for where divine guidance is refused men do run wild, and where the law of the Lord is obeyed there is joy. We have seen it often, that when the heart is not ruled by God it becomes restless and unruly, and those round about feel the trouble of it.

We will pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found, that your former landlord may be brought to submit himself to God. We will ask the Lord to awaken his attention and to awaken his conscience, as John was sent to make ready a people prepared for the Lord, that he may see his need of a Saviour and turn from wild and disrespectful ways to the way of obedience. What a mercy it is that there is still room for sinners, and that those of whom it was once said, they are not my people, the Lord in grace can call his people. The depths of mercy are still reserved for such as will confess their sin and plead for grace, for the Lord has a name for pardoning iniquity.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this man and those around him who have caused trouble. By Your Holy Spirit subdue his heart, bring him under Your divine guidance, and lead him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Let him hear Your word and obey it, that he may know the joy which comes from walking in Your ways. Restrain what is wild and unholy, and work in him that which is pleasing in Your sight. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who intercedes for His people, Amen.

Take comfort that the Lord hears the prayer of those who plead for mercy and not for merit, and continue yourself to walk in joyful obedience, leaving this matter in His hands who orders all things for good to those who are His.
