Divine guidance

Thank you for sharing this burden and for anchoring it in Scripture. What you quoted from Proverbs is true, that without divine guidance people cast off restraint and run wild, but the one who obeys God's law finds joy. That wildness is exactly what you have been experiencing with your former landlord and those around him.

I am praying with you in the name of Jesus that this man will turn and submit to God and receive His guidance. Right now his life shows what Scripture describes as having no peace. The Bible says there is no peace for those who continue in rebellion against God, that they are like a troubled sea that cannot rest. God does not want him to stay there. God is holding out a peace treaty to all who are at war with Him, offering peace to those who are far off and to those who are near, promising to heal and forgive those who come to Him.

That peace is only possible one way. We must first have peace with God, and that comes only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, through the blood He shed to make peace between us and the Father. Apart from that, a person may try to find calm in other ways but will live with constant inner turmoil. When a person receives Christ, the war is over. He is no longer fighting against God or running from Him, and that brings a deep peace that the world cannot understand.

After we have peace with God, God wants us to know the peace of God day by day. Scripture promises that God will keep in perfect and complete peace the one whose mind remains fixed on Him, because that person trusts Him. Jesus told His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. It is a peace that passes all human understanding and guards the heart and mind in Christ. It comes as we turn our thoughts toward the Lord and trust Him to take care of what we cannot control. In a world filled with chaos and strife, that is how we can remain steady.

So I am praying that your former landlord will hear God's call to peace, that he will repent and believe in Jesus, that his mind will be turned toward the Lord, and that the wild and disrespectful ways will be replaced by the wisdom that comes from above, which is peaceable and then allows peace with others. Those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness, and Jesus said the peacemakers are called children of God. Praying that God will bring that transformation for him.

I am also praying for you, that even while this trouble has been painful, you will experience that perfect peace yourself. God has not forgotten you. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to give you hope and a future. As you keep your mind stayed on Him and call upon Him in prayer, He hears you and will keep your heart and mind through Christ.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this former landlord before You. You see the trouble and disrespect that has come from his life and those around him. We ask that You draw him to Yourself, that he would submit to You, accept Your divine guidance, and receive forgiveness through the blood of Jesus. Grant him peace with You, and then the peace that guards the heart. Turn his heart from wildness to obedience, so that he may know the joy that comes from walking in Your ways. And for the one who was hurt by this, pour out Your perfect peace, keep his mind stayed on You, and let him rest in Your care. Amen.
