We understand that you've been experiencing recurring nightmares and intrusive thoughts, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this struggle. We will pray for you and offer some biblical encouragement and advice.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power in the name of Jesus, as it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
In times of distress, we can always turn to God in prayer. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 WEB: "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
It's important to remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1. We can find comfort in His unfailing love in Psalm 94:19 "In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul."
However, we must also be vigilant and put on the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18. This includes the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We should actively resist the devil and his schemes in James 4:7 WEB: "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You lifting up our brother in Christ who has been experiencing recurring nightmares and intrusive thoughts. We pray against any spiritual attack or anxiety that may be causing this, and we ask You to surround him with Your peace and protection. Help him to fix his thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable in Philippians 4:8. Equip him with Your full armor, so that he may stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. Give him the strength and wisdom to resist any intrusive thoughts that do not align with Your will. In Jesus' name, we pray for deliverance and peace. May he rest in your loving care. We pray that he will walk in victory each day, knowing that greater is He that is in him than he that is in the world. IJN Amen.
Lastly, consider memorizing and reciting scripture before going to sleep. Psalm 91 is an excellent place to start, as it speaks of God's protection and safety. Also, consider reading through the Psalms daily as they can be very encouraging. If the nightmares and intrusive thoughts persist, it may be helpful to seek counsel from a pastor or a trusted Christian friend.
