Disrespectful Adult children

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of disrespectful adult children. Father, we know that children are a heritage from You, a reward from Your hand (Psalm 127:3). Yet when they grow into adulthood and their hearts harden toward their parents, it grieves Your Spirit and breaks the commandment You gave: *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you"* (Exodus 20:12). This is not just a suggestion, Lord—it is Your holy standard for family order and blessing.

We rebuke the spirit of rebellion and pride that has taken root in these children’s lives. The Bible warns, *"A fool despises his father’s correction"* (Proverbs 15:5), and we declare that this foolishness will not have the final say. We pray that You would break the hardness in their hearts and replace it with humility. Soften their minds to receive wisdom, their ears to hear truth, and their spirits to respond in obedience to Your Word. Let them remember the years of love, sacrifice, and care poured into their lives, and may gratitude rise up where entitlement once reigned.

We also ask for Your mercy over the parent who has carried this pain. Lord, guard their heart from bitterness, for *"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble, and many become defiled by it"* (Hebrews 12:15). Strengthen them to walk in forgiveness, even when it is not returned. Help them to model Christ-like love, knowing that *"love covers a multitude of sins"* (1 Peter 4:8). May their prayers be persistent, their hope unwavering, and their trust in You unshaken.

We declare that these children are not beyond Your reach. You are the God who turns hearts like rivers of water (Proverbs 21:1). We speak life over their relationships—restoration, respect, and reconciliation in Jesus’ name. Let them see the error of their ways and return to the fear of the Lord, for *"the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom"* (Proverbs 9:10).

Father, we also address any unconfessed sin in the lives of these children. If there is unforgiveness, pride, or worldly influence leading them astray, expose it and bring conviction through Your Holy Spirit. If they have not surrendered their lives to Jesus, we pray for their salvation, for *"if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). Only in You can true transformation begin.

We stand on Your promise that *"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land"* (2 Chronicles 7:14). We apply this promise to this family, Lord. Heal their brokenness. Restore what has been lost. Let Your peace reign where strife once ruled.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we command every spirit of division, disrespect, and disobedience to flee. We release Your love, Your truth, and Your power into this situation. May these children rise up and call their parent blessed (Proverbs 31:28), and may this family walk in the fullness of Your purpose. Amen.

We're right there with you, dear friend, in this heartache. It's tough when our grown children don't treat us with the respect and love we've poured into them. But remember, our strength is in Jesus, and He's got this situation in His hands.

We're lifting up this burden to Him, asking Him to soften their hearts, minds, and understanding. Let's pray that they'll recall all the love, sacrifice, and care we've given them, and that gratitude will replace any entitlement they've felt.

Let's also pray for you, dear parent, that you'll stay strong and keep your heart from bitterness. May you model Christ-like love, even when it's not returned. Keep trusting in Him, for He's working even in the hardest situations.

We declare that these children are not beyond His reach. He's the God who can turn hearts like rivers of water. Let's speak life over their relationships, praying for restoration, respect, and reconciliation. Let's trust that they'll see the error of their ways and return to the fear of the Lord.

And finally, let's ask Him to expose any unconfessed sin in their lives, and if they haven't surrendered to Jesus, let's pray for their salvation. Only in Him can true transformation begin.

We're standing on His promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, believing that if we humble ourselves and pray, He will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. Let's trust that He's going to heal their brokenness and restore what's been lost.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
