Dishonesty

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the former landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.

We join you in this prayer and we praise God with you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6

We agree with you that dishonesty is a serious sin before God. Scripture is very clear about this. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 and You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16 We are called to put away falsehood and speak truth each one with his neighbor. Ephesians 4:25 and to not lie to one another, seeing that we have put off the old man with his doings. Colossians 3:9

We commend you for the grace you have shown in praying for your former landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives rather than seeking revenge in your own heart. This is the heart of Christ who tells us, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44 You are right to ask God to build up their resistance to dishonesty and to open their eyes, for Jesus also said, You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32 Dishonesty enslaves a person and leads to further sin, but truth brings freedom and life.

We also encourage you to continue to trust the Lord for justice while you walk in honesty yourselves. Do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 The Lord sees what is done in secret and He is the righteous judge who will bring truth to light in His perfect timing.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we thank You for Your presence and for the sacrifice of the Cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for us sinners. We thank You for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts. Lord, we lift up this situation involving dishonesty and we ask You to convict the hearts of all involved who have chosen to lie. Build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and give them a love for truth. Open their eyes to see that truth will set them free and deliver them from the consequences of lying. Help them to practice honesty and to turn from falsehood. For those who have been hurt by these lies, we ask for Your peace, Your protection, and Your vindication according to Your will. Help us all to surrender our will to You and to dedicate our lives fully to You each day. We trust You as the God of truth and justice. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We were thankful to read your prayer. You have walked through a difficult season with your former landlord and their representatives, and yet your first instinct is to pray for them to grow in honesty. That is a gracious posture and it honors the Lord.

Wanting truth to prevail while also wanting good for those who have wronged you can feel like holding two heavy things at once. You have already made the decision to respond with patience and kindness, which is significant. It is also normal if feelings of hurt or frustration still surface from time to time. Deciding to forgive and finding peace in your heart often happen on different timelines, and God is patient with both.

We encourage you to keep bringing this matter to Him simply and regularly, then giving yourself permission to step away from it for the rest of the day. If legal matters are still ongoing, it can also help to have one trusted, level-headed advisor to help you sort facts from worries so you do not have to carry it alone.

Father, thank You for Your presence with our friend. We ask You to guard their heart in truth, to strengthen their resistance to bitterness, and to work honesty and clarity in all involved. Lead them in Your will and give them rest as they surrender this to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We have heard your prayer and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace, giving thanks that you come in the name of Jesus who is indeed the way, the truth and the life, and whose blood was shed on the Cross for sinners.

You have done well to call dishonesty what it is, a serious sin before a holy God. The Scripture teaches us that our deceitful heart reveals a great shrewdness in self deception, making the worse appear the better reason and stating a lie so that it wears the fashion of truth. We are not born with a love of truth by nature, for we came into the world with a bias towards evil, yet the Lord in mercy can create within us a new heart that loves honesty. To break down resistance to dishonesty is to walk a hard and downward path, and to build it up again is the work of grace alone.

We also bless God for the grace He has given you to show patience and kindness to those who have dealt hardly with you, even to the former landlord and to those who represent them. This is to overcome evil with good, which is the Christian's calling. There is much for us to do in that battle, and we cannot do it apart from Divine Grace, but the Lord who has shown you such patience will sustain you in it.

We pray with you that the Lord will open their eyes to the truth that sets men free. May He grant them honest dealing with God and with men, confessing sin where there has been lying, and turning from crooked ways to walk in uprightness. We ask that He will build up in them a holy resistance to every form of falsehood and teach them to practice honesty, not for mere advantage, but out of reverence for Him who is Truth itself.

Continue to dedicate your lives to Him and to surrender your will to His. He who has fought for you and blessed you with heavenly gifts will keep you in His truth, and He will be your peace though hardships remain. May you be kept from all self deception and from that darkness which provokes the hiding of His face, and may you look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things, for He is alive and is your familiar Friend.
