We hear the frustration and pain in your words, and we stand with you before the Lord, seeking His justice, wisdom, and peace. The Bible tells us that jealousy and strife among people are not new—even Jesus faced those who sought to discredit and undermine Him. In John 15:18-19, He says, *"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."* This does not make the hurt any less real, but it reminds us that opposition can come when we are walking in God’s purpose.
First, we must address the language used in your request. The Bible calls us to guard our hearts and our tongues, for *"out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks"* (Matthew 12:34). Words spoken in anger or bitterness can grieve the Holy Spirit and give the enemy a foothold (Ephesians 4:29-31). We encourage you to release this burden to the Lord, asking Him to cleanse your heart of any unforgiveness or resentment. In Colossians 3:8, we are instructed, *"But now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth."*
We also want to gently remind you that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). Those who seek to copy or discredit you may be operating under the influence of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Instead of focusing on their actions, we must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is our defender, and He will vindicate His children in His perfect timing.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is feeling attacked and discredited by those around them. We ask that You would be their shield and their refuge (Psalm 91:4). Father, we rebuke the spirit of jealousy, strife, and division in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we ask that You would expose any schemes of the enemy meant to harm or distract them.
Lord, we pray for a spirit of humility and grace to rest upon them. Help them to respond to their accusers with wisdom and love, as You did when You were reviled (1 Peter 2:23). Give them the strength to forgive those who have wronged them, just as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Father, we ask that You would fill their heart with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and that You would guard their mind from bitterness and anger.
We also pray for those who are seeking to copy or discredit them. Lord, we ask that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth. If they do not know You, we pray that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, for there is no other way to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If they are believers, we ask that You would convict them of their actions and lead them to repentance.
Father, we declare that Your child is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that You have a unique purpose and plan for their life (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that they would walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ, knowing that they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). Help them to keep their eyes fixed on You, Lord, and not on the opinions or actions of others.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your justice and Your timing, and we ask that You would be glorified in this situation. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word and allow it to renew your mind (Romans 12:2). Spend time in prayer, not just asking God to change your circumstances, but asking Him to change *you* through them. Remember that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He sees your struggles, and He will not abandon you.
If you have not already, we also encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can walk alongside you during this time. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* Surround yourself with people who will speak life into you and remind you of God’s promises.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is not found in what others say about you, but in what God says about you. You are His beloved child, created for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). Walk in that truth, and let it be the foundation upon which you stand. The Lord will lift you up in due time if you humble yourself before Him (1 Peter 5:6). Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
