Thank you for sharing so openly about what you are carrying. Living under constant watching, where even ordinary things like using the internet or boarding a bus feel tracked and where neighbors keep close watch on one another, would weigh heavily on anyone. It makes sense that this has affected your peace of mind. Your desire to honor what Romans 13:1 teaches about respecting governing authorities, while also recognizing when things go too far and choosing not to seek a political fight, reflects a sincere wish to walk faithfully before the Lord.

Scripture shows that influence is powerful and often subtle. Like a small amount of leaven working through a whole batch of dough, the attitudes and values around us can permeate our thinking without us even choosing it. An ungodly influence can shape a heart and a mind over time, and a society that is unwell can make those living in it feel unwell. That does not mean you have failed, it means you are human and you are being affected by an environment that is not healthy. The opposite is also true. The influence of the gospel, even when it begins very small, and the strength that comes from fellowship with other believers, is meant to be a protection and a help. We are made to be part of a body where each part supports the others, and we draw strength we would not have alone. When possible, staying connected to faithful fellowship, even quietly and carefully, and feeding on the Word, helps guard your mind and heart.

The Bible also shows a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the mind and body. In his short letter to Gaius, John expresses a heartfelt wish that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That was not written as a guarantee that every illness will be instantly removed, but it does reveal something true about how we are made. There is a real relationship between inner well being and outer well being. Attitudes, fear, constant stress and anxiety can change us physically, and peace in the soul helps bring health to the whole person. Caring for your soul is not separate from caring for your mental health.

God is also shown as one who protects his people. He places coverings around what he has made, like a blanket that shields from harm, and he keeps back the soul from the pit and turns us from paths that would destroy us. At the same time Scripture exhorts us to keep ourselves in the love of God. We cannot step outside of his ways and still expect to remain in the place of his protection and blessing. To keep yourself in his love means to stay close to Jesus Christ, to remain in his Word, in prayer, in obedience, in trust, even when the culture around you is pulling in another direction. That is where safety is found, not because you have hidden yourself well enough from people, but because you are abiding under his care.

Healing belongs to the Lord. The gospels show Jesus healing many kinds of sickness and oppression, and Isaiah points to a suffering that covers both sin and physical brokenness. Yet even the apostle Paul learned that God does not always remove a burden immediately, even after earnest prayer. God is able to heal today, and we should ask him with confidence, while also trusting his wisdom and timing when the answer is to sustain us through the trial and gradually restore us.

I will pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I bring this dear one before you. You see the pressure of being watched and tracked and the mental strain that has come with it. I ask that you would cover this life with your protection and keep this heart abiding in your love. Wash away any ungodly influence that has settled in through this environment, and renew the mind by your Spirit and by your Word. Bring healing to the places where anxiety, fear and exhaustion have taken hold, and let inner prosperity in Christ bring strength to mind and body. Give wisdom to live honorably under authority while walking in holiness before you, and provide fellowship and encouragement that strengthens faith. Turn this one away from any pit or destructive path, guard from pride and despair, and let your perfect timing and presence bring peace that passes understanding. Restore, protect and keep, for your glory. Amen.
