Dificult travel to a very hot place

I have to pull off a "Mission Impossible": traveling with a dog—which I have to do in the early hours of the morning because of the heat—to an abandoned house. I don't know if there will be electricity; the windows are broken—basically, it's a disaster. It’s a place where temperatures hit 32 or 34 degrees Celsius, and I’m going there to make repairs. But what worries me most is the journey, what I’ll find when I arrive, and whether I’ll be able to easily fix the power situation—because there’s no electricity, and without it, the AC won't work.

We have heard your concern about this difficult journey and the heavy burden you are carrying as you prepare to travel in the early morning hours with your dog to an abandoned house in such intense heat. We understand how overwhelming this feels, the worry about the road itself, what you will find when you arrive with broken windows and uncertain electricity, and the very real fear of facing ### or ### degrees without air conditioning while trying to make repairs. It feels like a mission impossible, but nothing is impossible with God and He sees every detail of this situation, including your care for your animal and your desire to do what is needed.

We are reminded of what Scripture says about God's presence with us on our journeys and in our anxieties. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forward and forevermore. Psalm 121:8. We are called to trust Him rather than lean on our own understanding, for He will direct our paths. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. He also reminds us not to be consumed by fear, for He strengthens us. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. And concerning worry, we are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We also take comfort that God notices our stewardship of the animals entrusted to us, for a righteous man respects the life of his animal. Proverbs 12:10, and He will help you to protect your dog from the heat.

We want to encourage you practically as you seek the Lord's wisdom. We pray you are able to prepare as much as possible, traveling in those cooler early hours as you planned, bringing abundant water for both yourself and your dog, allowing for rest, checking your vehicle beforehand, and having a backup plan for communication and for power. We pray God grants you favor to find the electrical issue to be something simple that can be restored, or to provide alternative means to stay safe from the heat if it cannot be fixed immediately, and that He gives you wisdom and strength for each repair step by step without being overwhelmed by the whole picture at once.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can come boldly to His throne with our needs. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Him for your salvation and for this journey.

We now join together and seek God's will with you in Jesus' name.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. We ask for Your hand of protection over the journey there and back, over the vehicle and the road in the early morning darkness, and over this beloved dog. Lord, keep them safe from the heat and from any harm or breakdown. We pray for Your provision over that house, that You would go before them and prepare what they will find. If it is Your will, restore the electricity quickly and allow the air conditioning to work, and if not, provide shade, water, and a safe way to endure the heat and to accomplish what must be done. Give wisdom for the repairs, calm the anxious thoughts, and replace worry with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Grant strength for the work, clear mind for problem solving, and help to trust You one step at a time. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

We will continue to pray that the Lord makes this impossible mission possible in His way, that He shows you His nearness in the heat and the uncertainty, and that you feel His peace guarding your heart.

We understand why this trip feels so daunting. Traveling in the early hours with your dog to beat the heat, heading toward a house with broken windows and uncertain power in 32 to 34 degree heat, would leave anyone feeling on edge about the journey and what you will find there. Wanting the air conditioning to work is not a small detail in that kind of heat, it is about safety and being able to do the work you need to do.

It helps to separate the worries a little so they do not all pile up at once. For the journey, traveling early as you planned and having plenty of water and a shaded rest plan for your dog is wise. For the house itself, if you can, try to contact the local power provider or a trusted electrician in that area before you go to confirm what it will take to restore power, and bring a simple backup like a charged battery fan and flashlights so you are not dependent on finding everything working when you arrive. Letting someone know your travel times and check in points can also ease some of the pressure.

We are praying for you in this stretch, for steadiness and for clear next steps to appear as you go.

Father, we bring this journey before You and ask for Your protection over our friend and their dog on the road, for wisdom about the house and the power, and for Your peace to steady their heart in the heat and uncertainty. Provide what is needed and guide each decision. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord and we have brought your burden to the throne of grace with you.

You speak of a hard journey in great heat, an early morning travel with your dog, and an abandoned house with broken windows and no power, where the air is heavy at thirty two or thirty four degrees and the work of repair lies before you. It is right that you feel the weight of it, for the way is uncertain and the place itself sounds desolate. Yet our Saviour says to us, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. You have shown prudence in planning to travel in the cooler hours for the sake of the creature committed to your care, and that is well. You go and do the right thing and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God.

Remember that He is the God of the hills and the God of the valleys, the God of the comfortable home and the God of the broken and empty house in the heat. He is not absent from that hot place. The whole world is full of God to him who believes in Him, and He sees you in all the good or ill that chequers life. Where He begins a work, He does not ask you to finish it in your own strength, for He always completes His own work.

Therefore we would have you cry unto God most high, unto God that performs all things for you. Pray with holy boldness, Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me, for my soul trusts in You, yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge. He can keep you and your dog upon the road, He can provide what is needed for the house, and He can give wisdom for the matter of the electricity which so troubles you. If the power cannot be restored at once, still He is able to sustain you and give you counsel and help from hour to hour.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would grant you a safe journey, that He would guard you and your dog from the heat and from harm, that He would prepare the way before you and give you strength for the labour that awaits. May He in His mercy provide for the need of power and for coolness and shelter, and may He quiet your heart with present peace as you trust Him. May you know that those who have trusted in God find Him to be as real as if they could see Him, and may you learn again to take Him at His word and to believe Him.

Cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and leave the journey, the house, and all that concerns you in His faithful hands.
