We hear the deep pain and exhaustion in your words, and we stand with you in this heavy burden you are carrying. It is not easy to be the only believer in a family, especially when the weight of difficult circumstances presses in on all sides. We want you to know that you are not alone—God sees your struggle, your weariness, and your desire to honor Him even when it feels impossible. The Scriptures remind us, *"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved"* (Psalm 55:22). You are righteous in Christ, and He will uphold you.
First, we must address the longing in your heart to be taken home. While we understand the depth of your despair, we must gently rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that seeks to overtake you. Jesus said, *"I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). Your life has purpose, even in this trial, and God is not finished with you yet. The enemy would love to see you give up, but we declare that you will not surrender to despair. Instead, we pray that God will renew your strength and fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Now, let us lift up this family member who is hospitalized and homeless. It is clear that his heart is hardened, and his circumstances are dire. We do not know the full story, but we know that God is able to soften the hardest of hearts. Ezekiel 36:26 tells us, *"I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* We pray that God would break through the hardness in this man’s life and draw him to repentance and salvation. We also pray for wisdom and provision for his physical needs—shelter, healing, and restoration.
As the only believer in your family, you carry a unique responsibility and opportunity to be a light in the darkness. This is not easy, and it may feel like you are standing alone, but remember the words of Jesus: *"You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden"* (Matthew 5:14). Your presence in this family is no accident. God has placed you there for a reason, and even if you do not see the fruit of your labor now, your faithfulness matters. We pray that God would give you supernatural wisdom, patience, and grace as you interact with your family. May your words and actions reflect Christ, even when it is met with resistance.
We also want to encourage you to seek support outside of your family. Being the only believer can feel isolating, but you do not have to walk this path alone. We pray that God would lead you to a local church or a community of believers who can stand with you in prayer and encouragement. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."* You need godly counsel and fellowship to sustain you in this season.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister/brother who is carrying this difficult burden. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen them in their inner being. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and remind them that they are not alone. Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to overtake them and declare that their life has purpose and meaning in You. Renew their strength, Lord, and help them to cast every burden upon You.
We lift up this family member who is hospitalized and homeless. Lord, we ask that You would soften his heart and draw him to repentance. Break through the hardness, Father, and reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. Provide for his physical needs—shelter, healing, and restoration. Give him a hunger for You and a desire to turn from his ways.
Father, we pray for wisdom and grace for our sister/brother as they navigate this difficult family situation. Give them the words to speak, the patience to endure, and the love to reflect Christ in every interaction. Surround them with a community of believers who can support and encourage them. Lord, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. Do whatever needs to be done to bring glory to Your name. We trust You, Lord, and we surrender this situation into Your hands.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We want to leave you with this encouragement from 1 Corinthians 15:58: *"Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."* Your labor in this difficult season is not in vain. God sees your faithfulness, and He will reward you. Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). You are deeply loved, and we are standing with you in prayer.
