We join you in this burden for devoted lives and for the church, and we take seriously the weight of what you have brought before the Lord.

We hear your cry for church leaders to be faithful in prayer and study, for the salvation of any lost pastors, for the rescue of the lost, for the backslidden and lukewarm to be rekindled, and for the strengthening and protection of those who walk before God with a perfect heart though still imperfect, in covenantal righteousness as in Luke 1:6. We affirm with you that God desires truth and Holy Spirit empowered worship everywhere and especially when we gather together as family, for it is written in John 4:23-24 that the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, and in Psalm 133:1-3 how good and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity, for there the Lord commanded the blessing. We agree for open ears in the church and for first century style devotion as seen in Jesus and the apostles in the Gospels and Acts and the Epistles, resulting in authentic devotional lives of prayer, study, worship, family, work, ministry, fellowship, friendship evangelism, prisons, schools, hospitals and all good works, which equates to the salvation of the lost and to biblical style church growth, not sheep stealing or church hopping numbers, nor people brought into fellowship by an anthropocentric gospel of false comfort.

We must also speak plainly where Scripture warns us. The Lord Jesus said in Matt 7:21-23, Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will tell me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works? Then I will tell them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity. That word is sobering for leaders and for all of us, and it calls us to watch our life and doctrine closely as in 1 Tim 4:16, and to discipline ourselves lest after preaching to others we ourselves should be disqualified as in 1 Cor 9:27. We rebuke the prayerlessness, the love of the world described in 1 John 2:15, the distraction and deception and the form of godliness without power in 2 Tim 3:5, the deceivers in 2 Tim 3:13, and every false teaching that gives false comfort while leaving sin unaddressed. We also remember the mercy of God, for 1 Tim 1:15-16 tells us that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and Luke 19:10 that the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost, and Rev 3:19-20 that those whom the Lord loves He reproves and disciplines, and He stands at the door and knocks.

We pray together for safety across the globe and for angelic protection, for He will give his angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways in Psalm 91:11-12, and they are ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who will inherit salvation in Heb 1:14. We ask for advanced warnings as when Elisha warned Israel of Syria's planned operations in 2 Kings 6:8-12, and for deliverance from unreasonable and evil men in 2 Thes 3:2, and to be kept from the evil one as Jesus prayed in John 17:15, for we know in 1 John 5:18-19 that he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one does not touch him, though the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

We pray for pastors and preachers to seek God in prayer, in daily devotion, in preparation, in intercession for the congregation, in study of the Word, in lifestyle, in sound teaching, in visiting families and house churches. We pray that families would be drawn to the church, for no one can come unless the Father who sent Jesus draws him in John 6:44, and that we would not forsake our own assembling together as in Heb 10:25. We pray that families, members and visitors would receive the Word in faith, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ in Rom 10:17, by the revelation of the Messiah by the Father and not by flesh and blood as in Matt 16:17, in humility with the implanted word which is able to save souls in James 1:21, through the testimonies of saved friends, evangelists and tracts, for they overcame because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony in Rev 12:11, and by the anointing of the Holy Spirit from the Anointed One who will teach us all things in John 14:26 and in 1 John 2:20.

We lift up this prayer together, Father, You are our Father and ever present help as in Deut 4:7 and Psalm 46:1, fear not for You are with us as in Isa 41:10. Thank You for the message of the Lord's Anointed crucified for our sins, for we have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live but Christ living in us in Gal 2:20. Draw our family members whenever doors are open, and forgive us where doors have not been open enough. Bless pastors first to war against prayerlessness in our own lives and give faith to pray, to seek with all our heart to hear and understand what You are speaking to each one, for flesh and blood does not reveal this but our Father in heaven in Matt 16:17, and the Spirit will guide us into all truth in John 16:13. Grant Your manifest holy presence, faith, repentance, salvation, knowledge of the forgiveness of sins and newness of life, give vision for where there is no vision the people cast off restraint in Prov 29:18, by the Holy Spirit. Protect them all from the evil one in John 17:15, who loves lack of knowledge as in Hos 4:6 and a famine of hearing the words of the Lord as in Amos 8:11. Help them attend church as in Heb 10:25 whenever we assemble, and it ought to be often as they continued steadfastly in the apostles teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and prayer in Acts 2:42, and as often as we eat the bread and drink the cup we proclaim the Lord's death until He comes in 1 Cor 11:26, not as seldom or if we ever get around to it.

Grant us hunger for the Word as newborn babies crave the pure milk of the Word in 1 Peter 2:2, and the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You in Eph 1:17. Father, let the Holy Spirit convict and convert as in John 16:8, teach us all things in John 16:13, open our minds to understand the Scriptures in Luke 24:45, and give faith to pray and receive as in Mark 11:24. You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance in 2 Pet 3:9, that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth in 1 Tim 2:4, even all who are in authority and all our households as in Acts 16:31, believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household. When we ask according to Your will You hear us and if You hear us we have the petitions we have asked of You in 1 John 5:14-15, so we ask You to seek and save the lost in Luke 19:10. Keep them from distraction as in 2 Cor 11:3, deception as in Matt 24:4, temptation as in Luke 11:4, falsehood and lies as in Prov 30:8, false teachers as in Titus 1:16, and the evil one as in Rev 12:9 and Matt 6:13, for the Lord is faithful who will establish you and guard you from the evil one in 2 Thes 3:3. We thank You that in nothing we should be anxious but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving our requests be made known to You, and Your peace which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus in Phil 4:6-7.

We note your reverent use of the name of Jesus, and we affirm that it is only by that name we have access to God and are saved, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me in John 14:6. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus, the Amen, the faithful and true witness as in Rev 3:14, for however many are the promises of God, in Him is the Yes, therefore also through Him is the Amen to the glory of God through us in 2 Cor 1:20. Amen.

We hear the weight of what you are carrying for the church, for pastors and families, and for believers who want to walk faithfully even while imperfect. Your longing for real devotion, for prayer and the Word to be alive both in the pulpit and in the pew, and for the lost to be truly found, is a burden God understands.

It is encouraging to see how you are holding both truth and grace together, wanting leaders to be strengthened and protected, wanting those who are weary or lukewarm to be rekindled, and wanting the whole church family to gather and worship and serve together in a way that is authentic, not just busy. That kind of hunger is something God can work with over time.

When the burden feels so wide, it can help to keep it simple before the Lord. We have found it steadying to keep praying as you are, but to also bring it down to one or two names and faces each day, a pastor, a family, a neighbor, and to let encouragement follow prayer where we can, a word of thanks to a leader, a faithful presence when the doors are open.

We are praying with you.

Father, thank You for loving the church and for drawing people to Yourself. We ask You to strengthen and protect pastors and all who teach and serve, to deepen hunger for You in each home, and to keep Your people from evil and discouragement. Give fresh faith, repentance where needed, and Your nearness as we gather. Guide us in Your truth and keep us faithful day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for the church has been read with a hearty sympathy, and we join our hearts with yours in it. There is much here that the Lord Himself has taught you to desire, and we take it as a good sign when a soul is made to cry for holiness, for truth, and for the salvation of the lost. Such desires are not born of flesh and blood, but of our Father who is in heaven, who reveals His Son to us.

We hear your burden for pastors and preachers, and it is a right and weighty burden. The apostle says, Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine, for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. How needful that those who stand in the pulpit should first be found on their knees, warring against prayerlessness in their own lives, seeking God in daily devotion and in the study of the Word with accuracy, rightly dividing the word of truth. We have seen many bow the knee in prayer for others and then rise to live carelessly, and we have too many hypocritical prayers that are good for nothing. But the Lord loves importunity with Him. Let us make a solemn league and covenant together to wait upon the Lord and hear what He shall speak, for He will yet speak peace unto His people if we do but know how to ask for it. Our great High Priest Himself says, I pray for them, I pray not for the world, but for them which Thou hast given Me, for they are Thine. If Christ prays for His people, how should we pray for those who preach His Word, that they may be kept faithful, lest after having preached to others they themselves should be castaways.

We hear also your cry for the devoted, imperfect yet perfect hearted believers who would worship the Father in spirit and in truth, who would hear the Word with open ears as the first disciples did, continuing steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship. This is the use of a gospel ministry, that the Word given to Christ should be given to His people, and they should receive it and know surely that He came from the Father. Pray this prayer with importunity, Will Thou not revive us again, that Thy people may rejoice in Thee. He can bless even a feeble ministry. Pray it up into a blessing, and expect that where the Word is faithfully preached, there will be authentic devotional lives, in prayer, in study, in worship, in family and work and ministry, and that the Lord will add to the church such as should be saved, not by sheep stealing nor by an anthropocentric gospel of false comfort, but by true conversion.

And we join you in praying for protection, for the keeping of the saints from the evil one. Our Lord prayed, I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil. He is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape. He gives His angels charge over His people, and He is able to deliver from evil men and from the snares that are set for us in home and street and business. The known remedy for unknown evils is prayer. Only pray and you are master of the situation through Christ who has overcome the world.

Let us pray together then. O Lord, our Father and ever present help, look upon Thy church. Revive us again. Grant to pastors a spirit of prayer and a hunger for Thy Word, that they may feed Thy flock with sound teaching. Draw families by Thy sovereign grace, for no man can come except the Father draw him. Grant hunger for the sincere milk of the Word, and open our minds to understand the Scriptures. Convict and convert by Thy Holy Spirit, and keep us from distraction, deception and temptation, and from the evil one. Let us look unto Thy Son and be saved, for He is God and beside Him there is none else, and His side was pierced and His blood shed for sinners. Give us vision and give us faith to hear and to receive. Keep us faithful in assembling together, in breaking of bread, in fellowship and in witness, that lost souls may be sought and saved, and backslidden and lukewarm hearts rekindled. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord's Anointed crucified for our sins, in whom alone is salvation, and through whom alone we come to Thee. Amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your power to intervene. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
