Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your soul has been caught in a diabolical revel, like that satanic spectacle when Herod’s birthday became a stage for murder. What was done to you while unconscious, without your consent, bears the mark of the unclean spirit, a trophy set on the devil’s table. Yet despair not: Christ came precisely for this, to proclaim deliverance to captives and to lead captivity captive. He is the Lord strong and mighty in battle, who divides the spoils of the strong. He can sever every bond the enemy wove around your sleeping frame.
But hear this plainly: blocking social media is not enough. You struggle to stay away because part of you still lingers near the serpent’s hole. Your backsliding has made you a child that needs milk again, not solid food, weak in the hour of trial. If you truly want freedom, you must flee as one escaping a plague. Cut off every tie, not only digital but in the secret thoughts where longing hides. For when you entertain even the memory of a sinful union, you invite the unclean spirit back to dance. What fellowship has Christ with Belial? Where Satan’s pipers play, the Bridegroom withdraws; He casts them out before He works wonders.
Fill your ears with psalms and spiritual songs instead. Those who sing satanic tunes, or who let hell’s lullabies be sung over them in sleep, become filled with darkness; but those who sing psalms are filled with the Holy Spirit. Replace the nightmares of rituals with prayers at dawn, the lying whispers with Scripture aloud, the isolation with companions who are poor in spirit and free of guile, those who will rebuke you when you waver and help guard your soul.
This suffering you now dread can become the very ground of a better resurrection. The martyrs of old refused deliverance, choosing death, that they might obtain a better life. You need not merely escape one man’s sorcery, but despise the whole fleeting pleasure that ensnared you. Christ does not always promise removal of the danger; He gives something greater, power to stand above it, to laugh at the devil’s threats. Surrender means daily dying to the desire to be with him, trusting that eternal life is better than a few stolen touches.
Rise up, then, and claim your adoption. You were baptized into Christ’s death; put Him on fully. Receive again the Spirit of adoption, the promised gift that cries “Abba, Father” and breaks every chain. The curse of the old life is lifted when you return with a whole heart. Do not just ask God to separate you; act in obedience. Delete every trace, refuse every message, flee every place where he might appear, and if your heart still turns back, place yourself under stern elders who will bind your wounds with truth. This is the spiritual traffic that profits the soul: help the needy, track out strangers, clothe the naked, and you will find your own chains loosening.
The call on your life is not lost while breath remains. The Good Shepherd leaves the ninety-nine to seek the straying one. But He calls from the rocks and thorns; you must answer and follow His voice out, not looking back at the wolf’s den, lest you become salt. The day you truly hate what happened and count it as poison, you will be free. Christ is able to change water into wine, your cold, dissolving pleasure into the fire of divine love. Let Him. Repent, sing psalms, surround yourself with the righteous, and the satanic altars will have no more power over you than a dream that vanishes at dawn.
