Beloved of All
Your desperate love and concern for your cat comes through so clearly, and God sees both your anguish and hers. He knows how deeply you care for this little creature He has entrusted to you, and He hears the cries that come from a burdened heart.
Prayer rests on relationship. Scripture teaches that when we have been brought into the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ, we can come to Him as Father and His ear is open to the cries of His children. If that relationship is not yet settled, the one prayer He is waiting to hear is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, which opens the way to Him through Jesus. Once we are His, we are invited to bring every need to Him, not only to get help but to know the Helper Himself. There is a danger in coming only for what His hand can give and missing His heart, so even as we ask for healing we come first for Him.
The Bible shows us that praying for the sick was part of the life of Jesus and the early church, and it gives a simple pattern that still stands. If anyone is sick, let him call for the elders and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up. That promise reminds us that God is faithful and that He has touched many and done marvelous works in answer to prayer, and no person is to be lifted up for it. The glory belongs to the Lord alone. At the same time healing is a sovereign work of God in His hands. Sometimes healing comes instantly, sometimes it comes as a process, and sometimes in His wisdom He allows a different outcome. It is wrong to place the burden of guilt on the one who is suffering or on those who love them, as if faith were measured by the result. We pray with confidence and we leave the outcome to His perfect will and mercy.
God also often uses means to bring healing, and there is nothing wrong with using medicine and the care of a veterinarian. He can heal without any means, and He can also work through the means He has provided. Continue to seek good care for her while you are praying, trusting Him to work through it or beyond it as He chooses.
You have poured out your heart with great earnestness, and I want you to know that the volume or intensity of our words does not make God hear us better. He already hears the quietest prayer that rises from the heart. The earnestness helps us more than it helps Him. Jesus Himself showed us this. He found strength and rest through prayer, and His example teaches us how much we need it. Often as we pray the Spirit ministers to our own hearts, bringing assurance and comfort even while we wait for an answer. Prayer is not a way to make our will happen on earth, but to invite His will to be done and to find our rest in Him while we ask.
So I join you in prayer to the Father in the name of Jesus. I ask that He would have mercy on your dear cat and ease any pain she is feeling. I ask that He would touch her body, restore her desire and ability to eat and drink, relieve the blockage that keeps her from having a bowel movement, and bring her bodily functions back to normal. I ask that He would give wisdom to those caring for her and give you peace and strength as you wait on Him. We ask these things trusting His goodness and His power, and submitting to His perfect will, knowing that the effective prayer of the righteous avails much and that the Lord hears and answers according to His love. May you sense His nearness and comfort as you keep bringing this need to Him. In Jesus name, amen.
