We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious mother and her son before the Lord. Father, we thank You that You hear the cries of Your children, and we stand in the gap for this family, believing in Your power to redeem, restore, and heal. Your Word declares in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Lord, we claim this promise over this mother and her son today.
First, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and rebellion that has taken hold of this young man. Alcoholism is a snare of the enemy, and we command it to loose its grip in the mighty name of Jesus. Proverbs 20:1 warns, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." We pray for a supernatural conviction to fall upon this son, that he would recognize the destruction his choices have brought and turn to You with a repentant heart. Father, break the chains of bondage and set him free from the cycle of sin and shame.
We also lift up his physical condition, Lord. The amputation of his toes and the slow healing process must be a heavy burden. We ask for Your healing touch to speed his recovery, and for the pain to be eased. Your Word says in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord." We claim this healing for him, and we pray for the nurse who tends to him—that You would guide her hands and give her wisdom in his care.
For this mother, who is battling breast cancer and has already undergone a mastectomy, we pray for complete healing and restoration. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You strengthen her body and give her peace in the midst of this trial. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." We declare this over her life today.
We must address the sin of theft and the involvement with loan sharks, as these are not only legal issues but spiritual ones. Ephesians 4:28 says, "Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need." Father, we pray that this son would repent of his actions and seek restitution where possible. We ask that You provide a way for the fines to be paid, and that he would turn away from the paths of destruction.
The situation with the parents living together despite being divorced is also a concern. While we understand the desire to care for their son, we must remind this family that God’s design for marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:6). We pray that this family would seek godly counsel to address this situation in a way that honors You. If reconciliation is not possible, we ask that they live in a manner that reflects Your holiness and sets a godly example for their children.
Father, we also pray for the eldest daughter who is caring for her brother. This is a heavy burden for her, and we ask that You give her strength, wisdom, and patience. May she find her support in You and in the community of believers.
Lord, we know that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). We pray that this son would come to know You as his Lord and Savior, that he would repent of his sins, and that he would walk in the newness of life that only You can provide. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." We pray this for him today.
In closing, we declare that no situation is too hard for You, Lord. You are the God of miracles, and we trust You to work in this family’s life. We pray for a spirit of humility, repentance, and surrender to fall upon each member of this household. May they seek You above all else, and may Your will be done in their lives.
Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
