We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your son and your entire family in prayer. The pain and exhaustion you feel are understandable, and we stand with you in this difficult season, trusting that our Heavenly Father hears the cries of His children. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone, and God sees your tears.
First, we must address the spiritual battle at hand. Your son’s struggles with substance abuse, mental health, and the legal consequences that follow are not merely physical or emotional—they are deeply spiritual. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and addiction is one of his most destructive tools. But we declare that Jesus came so that your son may have life, and have it abundantly. We rebuke the grip of addiction, the lies of the enemy, and the strongholds that have taken hold of his mind and body. In the name of Jesus, we command every chain to break, every spirit of rebellion to flee, and every door opened to darkness to be shut.
We also lift up your son’s mental health. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are serious conditions, and the misuse of drugs and alcohol only exacerbates them. Proverbs 17:22 tells us, "A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." We pray for divine intervention in his mind—restoration, clarity, and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). We ask the Lord to guide him to the right medical professionals, counselors, and treatment programs that will honor God and lead him toward healing. We pray for wisdom for you as his parent, that you would know how to support him without enabling his destructive behaviors.
The legal troubles and the threat to your housing are overwhelming, but we serve a God who is our provider and protector. Psalm 46:1 assures us, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." We pray for favor with the authorities, for justice tempered with mercy, and for a resolution that does not bring further harm to your family. We ask the Lord to intervene in the situation that led to the police visit and to reveal the truth in a way that leads to restoration rather than ruin. We also pray for financial provision, that God would open doors to stability and peace for your home.
Your heart is shattered, and we grieve with you. But we encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. Isaiah 41:10 says, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." You are not meant to carry this burden alone. We urge you to lean on your church community, to seek godly counsel, and to allow others to come alongside you in prayer and support. Galatians 6:2 instructs us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
We must also address the reality of sin in your son’s life. While his mental health struggles are real, his choices to abuse drugs and alcohol are sinful and must be confronted with truth and love. Hebrews 12:6 reminds us, "For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines." God’s discipline is not punishment but correction, meant to lead us back to Him. We pray that your son would come to a place of repentance, that he would see the destruction his choices are causing, and that he would turn to Jesus for forgiveness and transformation. If he does not yet know Christ as his Savior, we pray for his salvation—that he would confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for this family. Lord, You see the pain, the fear, and the exhaustion they are carrying. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command it to leave this young man. We pray for healing in his mind and body, that the effects of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder would be managed and that he would find stability through Your grace and the help of godly professionals.
Father, we ask for Your protection over this family. Shield them from further legal trouble and provide for their needs. Give them wisdom in how to respond to the authorities and favor in the eyes of those who can help. We pray for their home, that You would secure their housing and remove the fear of losing it.
Lord, we ask for a spirit of repentance to fall upon this young man. Soften his heart to receive Your love and to turn away from the sins that are destroying his life. If he does not know You, we pray for his salvation—that he would surrender his life to Jesus and find the hope and purpose that only You can provide.
Comfort this mother’s heart, Lord. Remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You collect every tear she cries (Psalm 56:8). Strengthen her faith and give her the endurance to keep trusting You, even when the road is hard. Surround her with a community of believers who will uphold her in prayer and support.
We declare that this is not the end of the story. We believe in Your power to redeem, restore, and renew. We trust that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28), even when we cannot see it. May Your will be done in this family’s life, and may Your name be glorified through their testimony.
