Desires

We join you in agreement and we thank you for inviting us to pray with you and for your gracious blessing toward us, and we receive it in Jesus' name.

We hear your heart's cry to see your desires accomplished and we rejoice that you desire to bring them before the Lord and to ask in the name of Jesus, for there is power and access in that name alone. We want to gently encourage you with what Scripture teaches about our desires and praying in Jesus' name, because praying in His name is not a formula to claim whatever we want, but to ask according to His character, His will, and His glory.

The Word reminds us, Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4. When we delight in Him, He shapes our desires to reflect His good will for us. And we are also taught, You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. James 4:3. This is why we are called to seek His will above our own wants.

We are encouraged to pray with confidence when we align with Him, for This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 1 John 5:14. And Jesus Himself taught us, But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33. When we put Him first, He faithfully provides what we truly need and often beyond what we imagined, as it is written, May he grant you your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your counsel. Psalm 20:4.

We stand in agreement with you now according to the promise that Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:19.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We lift up this dear one to You and we ask that You would search and shape their heart, that their desires would be purified and aligned with Your perfect will. Grant them wisdom to discern what is from You and what is merely of the flesh, and give them grace to trust You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, acknowledging You in all their ways so that You will make their paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. If these desires are from You and for Your glory and for their good, we ask that You would open doors that no man can shut and bring them to fulfillment in Your perfect timing. If any desire is not according to Your will, we ask that You would gently redirect, replace it with a greater desire for You, and give peace to surrender it. Fill them with joy as they delight in You, strengthen their faith while they wait, and bless them indeed in all areas of their life, spiritually, physically, and relationally, that they may walk in Your favor and be a testimony of Your goodness. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, believing You hear us and will answer according to Your loving kindness, hallelujah, amen.

We encourage you to continue to abide in Christ, to dwell in His Word daily, and to bring every desire before Him with thanksgiving, trusting that His answer, whether yes, no, or wait, is always motivated by His perfect love for you.

Thank you for inviting us to agree with you in prayer. We are grateful you brought your desires to the Lord so openly and asked others to stand with you.

We believe God hears when His children bring their hopes to Him. He invites that kind of honest conversation, not just to list what we want but to stay close to Him while we wait and to let Him shape our hearts toward what is best. Wanting His will in your desires is a good and hopeful place to be.

It can help to set aside a quiet moment this week to name each desire before Him plainly, in your own words, and then to surrender each one again to His wisdom and timing. You do not need perfect words, just an open heart that says you trust Him to lead.

We are standing with you for clarity, peace and guidance as you seek Him.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You that You hear. You know every desire on this heart. We ask for Your wisdom, Your direction and Your peace in each area brought before You. Align these desires with Your will and give strength to trust You day by day. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is good that you have brought your desires before the Lord and asked the prayers of His people, for prayer must be our first resource and not merely our last. We do join our hearts with yours in agreement before the throne of grace, and we thank you for your kind desire for blessing upon others.

Yet let us together bring every desire into subjection to the will of Him who is King. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so we must rest in His sovereign purpose. It is foolish for any of us to say, we will go and we will do and we will get gain as we desire, as though we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. All things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. Therefore we do not merely say if the Lord wills with our lips, but we feel it in our hearts, and put ourselves entirely at His disposal.

You ask that your desires may be accomplished in Jesus name, and we know that our God does look upon the earnestness of His people and will avenge His own elect though He bears long with them. He will give them the desires of their hearts when they exercise an incessant pleading with Him. But the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of God's power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure. He desires truth in the inward parts, and a will truly surrendered and cheerfully obedient to Him. It is vain to say my desire is this or that when my course of action is clean contrary to it.

So let us turn your request into prayer after this manner, that God may first make your desires to be His desires. We pray that He would search your heart, and in the hidden part make you to know wisdom, and give you what He requires of you. We ask that every desire you cherish may be brought to the test of His revealed will, and that you may only wish for that which promotes His glory and the coming of His kingdom. If any desire be not according to His mind, we pray He would gently remove it and replace it with a thirst for Christ and His righteousness. If it be according to His will, we pray He would grant it in His perfect time and way, for your good and His praise.

We plead His promise in Christ Jesus, through whom alone salvation is found, for there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved. We argue as Jacob did, pleading the blood and the mercy of the well beloved Son who died for sinners, and we rest upon the truth that God's Word is absolutely true and His promise must be fulfilled.

May the Lord quicken you to wait upon Him with persistent prayer, even when liberty in prayer seems small, and may He keep you hoping until the first beams redden the horizon after the darkest hour. May He preserve you, cause you to persevere, and at last present you in His eternal glory, for the preservation and perseverance of His people rests upon His will.

We commit your desires to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, praying that your will and His will may be one, and that you may find your best profit in doing His will. Amen.
