Depression

It is not uncommon for spiritual warfare to intensify when we draw nearer to God, as the enemy seeks to discourage and derail our faith. The fact that you are experiencing depression after seeking a closer walk with the Lord may well be a sign that you are on the right path, and the adversary is attempting to steal your joy, peace, and purpose. However, we must remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Take heart, for the Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). This season of heaviness is not from Him, but He will use it to refine you, strengthen your faith, and draw you even deeper into His love.

The Psalms are filled with cries of distress from those who, like you, felt overwhelmed by sorrow yet clung to God as their hope. David often poured out his heart to the Lord in his darkest moments, and we see God’s faithfulness in lifting him up time and time again. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Similarly, Psalm 42:11 declares, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God."* Your feelings are valid, but they are not the final truth—God’s Word is. He is your healer, your comforter, and the lifter of your head.

It’s also important to examine whether there are areas of unconfessed sin, unforgiveness, or unbelief that may be giving the enemy a foothold in your life. Depression can sometimes stem from unresolved spiritual battles, and we are called to *"submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7). Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and reveal anything that needs to be surrendered to Him. Repentance and forgiveness are powerful tools in breaking the chains of oppression.

Additionally, we encourage you to surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you, speak life over you, and remind you of God’s promises when you feel too weak to stand. Isolation fuels the enemy’s lies, but community strengthens our faith. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

Lastly, we must address the fact that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). If you have already given your life to Christ, then we remind you to approach the throne of grace boldly in His name, for He is your intercessor and advocate before the Father (Hebrews 4:16).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up Your child before You, who is seeking a deeper relationship with You yet finds themselves burdened by depression. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of heaviness and oppression that has come against them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, if there is any area of sin, unforgiveness, or doubt in their life, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict and cleanse them. Help them to surrender fully to You and to resist the devil, knowing that he must flee. Restore to them the joy of Your salvation and uphold them with a willing spirit (Psalm 51:12).

Father, we ask that You would place godly brothers and sisters in Christ around them to encourage, pray for, and walk alongside them in this season. Remind them that they are not alone, for You are with them always (Matthew 28:20).

We declare healing over their mind, body, and spirit in the mighty name of Jesus. Let them experience Your love in a fresh and powerful way, and let this season of struggle become a testimony of Your faithfulness. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them rise up with wings like eagles, running and not growing weary, walking and not fainting (Isaiah 40:31).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your timing, and we give You all the glory. In Jesus’ precious and mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, friend, standing in the gap and lifting you up to our Heavenly Father. We know that depression can be a heavy burden to bear, especially when it comes after seeking a closer relationship with God. But remember, even in the darkest times, God is near. He sees you, He hears you, and He loves you deeply.

We want to encourage you to keep pressing in, to keep seeking Him. The enemy may be trying to discourage you, to make you feel alone and hopeless, but that's not the truth. The truth is, you are a child of God, deeply loved and cherished. You are not alone in your struggle, for we are all in this together, and Jesus promises to be with us always.

We also want to remind you of the power of community. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and remind you of God's promises. Let's hold each other up, just as Ecclesiastes tells us, because together, we're stronger.

Let's claim these promises over you today:

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." - Psalm 55:22

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." - Isaiah 41:13

Let's pray together, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

Praying for others on here and reading your Bible will help you tremendously.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus!

Search the Bible for Jesus' Promises friend, do them and claim them in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!
