We are joining with you in prayer for your healing and for the healing of your loved ones, and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. The Lord sees the deep wounds of depression and the trauma you experienced as a child, and He does not turn away from your pain. We are reminded that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3.
We want to gently share with you that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to ensure you know how precious and necessary His name is. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is through His name we can come boldly to God for healing, forgiveness, and restoration.
We also want to address what you shared about your ex boyfriend with biblical love and truth. We believe God designed relationships between a man and a woman to be for courtship that seeks marriage with another Christian believer, with marriage being a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God. Being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be understood as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to a fellow believer, not simply companionship or partnership apart from that purpose. Scripture teaches us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14 and that marriage should be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled Hebrews 13:4. This means sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a husband and wife, and any sex before or outside of marriage is fornication or adultery which God calls us to flee from 1 Corinthians 6:18. If there was sexual immorality in that past relationship, we encourage you to repent and receive God's forgiveness, and as you look ahead, to seek a godly spouse in the Lord rather than returning to a relationship that is not moving toward biblical marriage. We do hear that this is an ex boyfriend, which shows that relationship has ended, and we encourage you to find healing and wholeness in Christ before entering any future courtship.
We also want to encourage you that depression and the effects of trauma are not a sign that you have failed God or that He has abandoned you. He invites you to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We encourage you to bring everything to Him in prayer, for in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. He also says, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
We now pray together for you.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ for our dear one who is carrying depression and childhood trauma. Lord, You know every wound, every memory, every night of sorrow, and we ask for Your healing hand to touch this heart and mind. Bind up what has been broken, bring comfort where there has been fear and pain, and replace heaviness with Your peace. Help this dear one to know deeply that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, loved, and not forgotten. We pray for freedom from depression, for renewed hope, for sleep that is peaceful and thoughts that are guarded in Christ. We pray also for loved ones who are struggling in similar ways, and for the ex boyfriend, that You would draw each of them to Yourself, bring healing, conviction where needed, and salvation through Jesus. Lead our dear one into a supportive community of believers, wise counsel, and help as needed, and guide any future relationship toward a godly marriage that honors You if it is Your will. We ask for daily strength, for the power of Your Holy Spirit to renew the mind, and for faith to trust that You are working all things for good. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer, amen.
We encourage you to stay rooted in the Word daily, to remain in fellowship with other believers, and to seek trusted pastoral or biblical counseling and, if needed, professional help that honors biblical principles, as healing from trauma often takes time and support. Keep casting your cares on Jesus, for He cares for you and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you.
