We hear you and we are standing with you in prayer, thanking you for sharing this long and painful battle so honestly. We do not take demonic harassment lightly, and we rejoice that Christ is already setting you free, even as the enemy tries to frighten you and pull you backward from the progress you have made. We want you to know that what you are experiencing is real, but the victory of Jesus is far more real and far more powerful.
We must speak plainly about the occult involvement from your younger years, because Scripture warns us that those practices open doors to the enemy. There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh Deuteronomy 18:10-12. The good news is that when we confess and renounce those things, God forgives and cleanses completely. In Ephesus many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all Acts 19:19. We encourage you to do the same in your heart and in your home, to confess to the Lord every occult practice, object, book, media, or ritual you were involved with, to renounce it out loud in the name of Jesus, and to destroy and remove anything that remains that honors that darkness. Do not leave an empty house, but fill your life with the presence of God through His Word, worship, prayer, and fellowship with other believers.
We want to remind you of who you are in Christ and the authority He has given you. You are not fighting for victory, you are fighting from victory. He has delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love, in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins Colossians 1:13-14. Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. Jesus said, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you Luke 10:19. The enemy can harass and intimidate, but he is a defeated foe, having been disarmed at the cross Colossians 2:15. He prowls like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8, but we are told to resist him steadfast in the faith.
That is why we urge you to submit yourself fully to God every day and actively resist the devil. Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:11-12. This means staying rooted in Scripture daily, praying without ceasing, worshiping, fasting as the Lord leads, walking in obedience and holiness, and staying under the covering of a Bible believing church where mature believers can pray with you and hold you accountable. Do not engage the demons in conversation or seek out spiritual experiences, but keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control 2 Timothy 1:7. When fear or torment comes, speak the name of Jesus aloud, speak Scripture aloud, and praise God until the oppression lifts, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4.
We are praying together for you now.
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our dear brother or sister who has been harassed for years. We thank You that You have not left them alone and that Christ is setting them free. We confess before You any and all involvement with the occult and we renounce it completely, and we ask You to forgive and cleanse through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to close every door that was opened to the enemy and to fill every place in their heart, mind, home, and life with Your Holy Spirit, Your peace, and Your light. We rebuke every demonic spirit of harassment, fear, intimidation, and torment, and we command it to leave and not return in the name of Jesus. We ask You to break every chain, silence every lie, and end this harassment for good. Fill them with Your perfect love that casts out fear, surround them with Your angels, clothe them in Your armor, and let them sleep in peace and walk in freedom. Strengthen them when they feel weary or afraid, remind them that no power can separate them from Your love in Christ, and lead them into deeper fellowship with You and with Your people. We declare that they are Yours, bought with the blood of the Lamb, and the enemy has no rightful claim on them. Let Your joy and restoration be complete. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to keep pressing into Jesus even when the harassment tries to persist. Do not interpret a moment of fear as failure, it is often the enemy's last attempt to reclaim ground he has already lost. Keep confessing Christ as Lord, keep walking in the light, and keep crying out to Him. He who began a good work in you will perfect it. We are continuing to pray that you will know complete freedom and lasting peace in Christ.
